Shangri La Chinese Of Distinction

At the end of August 2022, I became ill after eating at this restaurant. However, my son ordered a hot and sour soup that was delicious. Three days later, I ordered the same large container of soup for myself, but I was disappointed to find that it was mostly just broth. I returned it. Today, I went back with a friend for lunch. We didn't choose the lunch special and ordered some tea. The prices have increased by about 30% in the last few months, and there are now additional charges for many options. When my bill came to over $31, I paid at the table, but the staff kept the change without asking. I had to go to the counter to inquire about this. I felt ignored and felt that the $9 tip that was automatically added was excessive, especially given the lack of attentive service. The prices are high and unreasonable, and now they also include automatic tips. While the food is good, there are other restaurants like Mr. Wong's on 19th Avenue that offer comparable quality at fair prices without automatically adding tips.

The staff at Shangri La are very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The food is delicious and I have been coming to this restaurant for 6-8 years. I highly recommend it to everyone. I had the Sesame Chicken, my sister ordered the Beef and Broccoli, and my brother-in-law had the Mongolian Beef. Overall, we give Shangri La two thumbs up and five stars.

The food at this restaurant is still of good quality, but there are some issues with the pricing. When I opened the menu, I noticed stickers placed over the prices, and the cheapest item for a single person was now $16.99. The shrimp dish was a whopping $24.99 for one serving. It's unlikely that anyone would be willing to pay such high prices, which could result in a decline in business. During my visit, there was only one other couple dining, and the first thing they mentioned was the unusually high prices.

Great food and great service! Absolutely massive portions of delicious food. Not back to serving alcohol at the time of visit but will be soon hopefully! Some prices are higher but completely worth it. Definitely will be back again!

Loved the chicken and veggies (not coated in breading or soaked in sugar water. That comes on the side) Sweet and sour chicken also came w sauce on the side keeps the chicken crispy! $32 for 2 entrees with rice for pick up.
