Back to the beautiful Castle Hotel Falkenstein and had a wonderful time as usual! Mr and Mrs Schlachter were kind and welcoming as the staff! The rooms and the restaurant were very clean and everything was decorated BEAUTIFULLY! The food from the restaurant was amazing, especially the gams (goat-elope) and the pumpkin soup! I love to come to this hotel, for the views, for the environment and for the everywhere experience! In any case, it cannot wait to go back! (hidden link)
We came as a family with our dog. We had a great warm welcome by the owner. Due to the heavy snowfall, they picked us up at the lower parking area and brought us back when we had finished our dinner. The food and the...staff were just great! Nothing much to say!! One of the few restaurant being so kind to our kids! We spent a wonderful evening and next time we'll book a room to enjoy the awesome view!!! We'll be back...
There aren't enough words to describe the view so I will let my photos do the talking. The food is really good pork, veal, venison dishes for meat. I did not have an appetizer but he bread and spreads were excellent. We were given...a complimentary test tube of cheese soup and it was incredible. Local cheese is used in everything. Quiet atmosphere, a few couples taking advantage of the romantic nature of the place. You will take many pictures Germany on one side and Austria on the other. Deserts are wonderful as well. You must visit this restaurant if you are within an hour's drive. It is well worth it.
This is an eating place just below the summit of Falkenstein. It is well worth the walk up (a bit of a scramble the last 200 yards, so wear stout shoes). Admire the view, then back to the restaurant for something to eat and a...fortifying glass of Prinz Leupolds Donker Beer. If you can get a table on the terrace heaven! Then to admire the architects designs for the projected castle. King Ludwig II was a monarch who, 1) never involved his subjects in a war, 2) left them richer when he died than when he came to the throne, and, 3) whose hobby was building fairytale castles on mountain tops. Yet they called him Mad King Ludwig . There is no justice in the world!
