Bidrage med feedbackHad a lovely stay here at this historical piece of northern Michigan. The service is very friendly and accommodating and the food is just excellent. We even met a new friend, a lady in all white who kept passing by us in the hall. Her and all the otherguests were very kind and curtious to us and over all was just a great time and would stay again :
Decor was amazing. Front lobby and dinning haul has a very beautiful victorian style vibe. All the rooms here have a different style makeing them all very unique. Breakfast was very good. The staff and owners were very friendly and polite. Makes you feellike home. Room was very clean and welcoming. Would love to come back and stay some other time in the future.
We stayed in the apartment quarters. The place is authentically OLD, with painted wooden floors. The windows are all covered up with curtains that can't be opened, so it's dark in there and feels a bit claustrophobic. I tried to move the curtains back inthe bedroom to let some light in but the curtain rod came down. The bedroom portion of the apartment is below the restaurant, sothere is noise above, but a jar of earplugs is provided in the bathroom. The bathroom light didn't work. There is a kitchen inthe unit but no cloth or paper towels were provided except for a basket of rags under the sink that weren't folded, so wasn'tsure if they were suitable to use? I don't know what the regular rooms are like. The apartment quarters does allow pets, but wedidn't bring any pets. So if you have pet allergies, be aware of that. The apartment has it's own patio which is nice. Therestaurant is nice, also, with a pretty view of the grounds, but the service was quite slow and the food was just O.K. Theapartment quarters has its own parking spot, thankfully, as the street parking was quite congested with cars. Maybe the regularrooms are nice, but I wouldn't stay in the apartment quarters again. It's kind of creepy in there tbh.
I was researching what to do to celebrate my 18th anniversary with my wife when I came across this hotel. My wife usually prefers to stay at places that are right on one of the Great Lakes so I was taking a gamble when I chose the Terrace Inn. Afterresearching the area a little more I knew that she would love the hotel and the whole Bay View area. She was instantlyimpressed when we got into the area and fell in love with the hotel the second we pulled up. We have always shared a love ofhistorical buildings and we absolutely adored everything about the Terrace Inn. This isn?t really a hotel to just camp out inyour room so choosing the modest garden room with the two twin beds was no issue. It actually worked out great because I spentso many years on third shift that we?ve grown accustomed to sleeping in separate beds. The only small issue would be well, for someone who isn?t small. I?m 5?7? and the shower head was right at my head. I just ducked a little and it was fine. Keepthat in mind if you are booking 102 and are on the taller side. We never got a chance to eat dinner at the 1911 restaurant butwe thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. It was a wonderful experience having it out on the back deck. On our last night, wewalked down the back stairs and down across the pedestrian bridge to the pier by the Bay View Private Beach to watch the sunset. Approaching the grand staircase of the Inn at dusk was picture perfect and a fitting end to our last night. I?ll add the photoI took to this review but it doesn?t do it justice. The only downside to our trip for me is that I don?t know how I?ll top itfor our next anniversary. I guess we?ll just have to come back!
Beautiful area and building, with friendly staff. Belinda checked us in and then was also there at check out time; she was especially lovely and so was everyone else. We had room 100, which I think was the largest room with a king bed, oversizedbathtub, large shower and bathroom. We were right off the main sitting room and next door to another room but it was very quietall night long. The restaurant was exquisite but we had a large lunch in town so weren?t hungry for dinner unfortunately so wedidn?t try it. But we ate in the dining room for the buffet breakfast. A lot of options to suit my husband and my varied tastes, served by a friendly lady. We ate more than enough. We went for a long walk in the surrounding neighborhood and by the lake onSaturday evening and I went for a run on Sunday morning so I can attest for the beauty and quiet of the area. There isn?t aparking lot, and street parking right by the Inn can be hard since it is so popular, but street parking is free and allowed inthe neighborhood so we got a spot about a block away.
