Pongo's Kitchen Tap - Petaluma

Honestly it's most of a 3.5 star review... Recently ordered take out from here a couple of times recently and both times were just lacking. The Pad Thai was a bit greasy and the yellow curry was a bit mild and watery. There have been times where the food is great, but based on these last couple of visits I'm not exactly eager to try again just yet.

Ok, shame on me for not trying Pongo's out sooner! We live just a short distance away and I've driven past many times. I think this is due in part to the fact my wife is not a Thai Food fan, but it turns out Pongo's has many other menu choices. Pongo's had a nIce vibe, with 70s music playing the night I dined here. I was solo, so I sat at the bar, which had two large TVs showing football games. A 2018 award from the Argus Courier, for Best Thai Food, is prominently displayed behind the bar. The staff was attentive and my waitress handed me a menu as soon as I sat down. I appreciated the good selection of craft brews and an equally impressive selection of wine. On this visit, I enjoyed Pongo's Special, a good curry dish that didn't skimp on any ingredients! As a hot sauce fan, I was particular impressed with the four choices provided with my meal! I will definitely be back, probably on a Thursday night, when they have live music!

Came in on New Year's Eve for lunch with my buddy. We were the only ones here. We got the Thai nachos and Nicks noodles with beef, and a few of the tall draft beers. The server was quick an attentive and the food came super fast. I will definitely return. I have passed by this spot multiple times and always wondered if was good now I know. I will return soon to try some of the other interesting menu options and beers.

If you want phenomenal Thai food and you're in Petaluma, this is the place. I ordered the Pad Thai and it was PERFECT. And not even expensive! Despite looking like a tiny hole in the wall from the outside (right next to a Starbucks that looks to be about 10x the size of Pongo's it's really pleasant inside and feels surprisingly spacious. Service was attentive and friendly. I'll be back, for sure. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu :
