LE SAINT LOUIS - Périgueux

Not much was open on Monday evening in October, but fortunately this was and we had an excellent meal. The menu, for 23 euros, had all the things you expect in Perigord, such as Foie gras and magret de canard and the wines were... top class. It was packed, but the waiters were efficient and cheerful. Would go back.

We called to Périgueux en route from Bordeaux to our holiday house in Aynac. We wanted lunch and found this beautiful place in one of the small town squares. It was busy, but we sat quickly at a table inside the friendly owner. We had the Maigret, Caesar salad with chicken, and Rocamodour salad, which presents everything delicious and good, served by efficient staff. I saw other food coming and everything looked impressive. I would like to try the restaurant in one evening, I can imagine enjoying good food with a nice bottle of wine in a very pleasant environment... would definitely return.

40 minutes to just serve our drinks. The starter and the main came really fast because we complained. Then the desert took 30 minutes. The food was okay, but waiting wasn't worth it.

My wife and I both Dutch have lunched here in mid June and it was a great experience. Nice terrace, nice personal who were, after we insist two times, so kindly to split a table for four simply into two tables for two which paid...out... on the lovely terrace with shadow given parasols on a very, very hot day in Perigueux. My wife choose for a tasteful and full salad, my choice was for a menu 23 euro : great entree *Gesiers, which I highly recommend , a great and heavy piece of tournedos with frites and salad, and a creme de brulee as dessert. All very tasteful and served quicly by alert personal. A very nice place to stay for a while, also great visit to Perigueux' attractions. Much to see, nice walk in the old city.

We arrived a bit late but the waiter managed to find the last remaining table for us. Menu is decent with 3 choices for each course of the meal and fairly priced, inasmuch as the restaurant is located in the old city center, therefore highly...touristic. Portions were good and tasty, service was okay with lots of young and likely inexperienced waiters. We were luck to enjoy some music during our dinner due to festival occurring in Perigueux. The only drawback is that restaurant might be a bit crowded for people who like quieter places.
