Bidrage med feedbackWe have dined at the VP for both lunch and dinner and have had really great experiences both times. The food is excellent and the service terrific. The view is A1 and worth the visit - even if you are simply having a glass of the Poplar Grove wine. It's not inexpensive however, so expect to spend some money on this meal.
We had dinner at the Vanilla Pod, during the period of time when the forest fires were creating a blanket of cloud of smoke over the lake, reducing long distance visibility. We enjoyed our meal, the halibut main course with oyster mushroom broth and salmon with potato salad were very good. The service was good too.
Booked an anniversary dinner at this beautiful winery restaurant. Million dollar views but uninteresting menu, long wait for dinner and the final insult, poorly prepared food. I could have cooked most of the menu items at a reasonable price and higher quality. I had dry halibut on a bed of cubed zucchini with soy sauce. The kicker? 34 dollars for 12 dollars of ingredients... poorly done too!Something has gone wrong in this restaurant... maybe the former chef was on holidays or something. Won't go back!
Take away the view and this restaurant wouldn't survive. The wines we tried were okay, but at $16 and $18 per 8 oz glass, they were vastly overpriced. Same for the food. The chickpea salad was generously portioned but incredibly unimaginative. Same for the pasta dish. Service was friendly, but not well-versed in the menu or the wines. The room was nicely laid out but poorly ventilated (we could smell the grill throughout our dinner). We much preferred Hillside Winery.
My boyfriend had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant over the Aug long weekend. Went on a Saturday night and were seated on the patio. It was quite warm and smoky but that did not detract from the lovely view and very pretty sunset. I can only imagine how gorgeous it would be on a clear night! Service was impeccable, food was perfectly prepared and delicious. I had the salmon and he had an extremely tasty pasta with poached halibut. Dessert was also very good. A family of deer walked past while we were eating which just added to the ambiance. Prices are fairly high but it was worth it. Would definitely dine here again. We didn't do a wine tasting but the tasting room was cool and spacious and well laid out.
