Bidrage med feedbackUPDATED REVIEW A small cute and clean restaurant. I was charmed by it's simple interiors. Got the salmon and tuna combo. Sashimi and sushi combo. BC roll. Unagi nigiri. Yellowtail mackerel. Spicy chopped scallop roll. Spicy tuna roll. The pictures show the roll pieces as is, and also with some of the sauce taken off. The bigger pieces of fish tasted good! Nigiri was better than rolls IMO and I would come back for more nigiri. The rolls are simple. Tempura batter is more eggy and has a banh zheo batter taste too it. Maybe corn flour added? I can't tell what it is, but it's different from other tempura I'm used to. Not bad just different. I LIKED HOW FRESH everything was. The tempura was warm still, the rice to temperature and the right amount of tact. Service was friendly and bright. Can call in to make takeout/pickup orders. I noticed there wasn't wasabi in the nigiri between fish and rice. Overall I think it's a good place to go to given its location, prices, and service. I would come again and recommend it. Free parking outside the store in a small lot. If you're used to Vancouver sushi, just remember you're in Penticton. The ginger taste/smelled badly of wood so I didn't enjoy that. A little bit of harder bones in the unagi.
Taste, quality and price is all GOOD!!Yuko is a good caring owner! Thank you!!
Had an outstanding meal at Japanese Kitchen Kura. The sushi and shashimi was very fresh here, my favourite being the tuna and the horse mackerel. The chawanmushi and the egg custard dessert was absolutely delicious. The staff is helpful and very welcoming. Dine in and take out options were available. Easy free parking in front of the restaurant.
I rarely give out 5 star. But this place really nailed, I am really surprised to find high quality Japanese food in the small town. Ate here three day in a roll, everything I order was above average.
Great quality and authentic Japanese cuisine at modest prices. The sushi is always fresh and well executed. They also offer seasonal dishes: the Hiyashi Chuka cold ramen is delightfully refreshing in the summer weather. Don't be fooled by the ordinary decor; the food is created from quality ingredients with great attention. The service is also attentive and polite. Update: This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in town. I love that they offer something different and authentic. My favourites: mackarel nigiri, chawanmushi, and tan tan ramen.
