Island Fish And Grits - Pensacola

5/4/23 My first time here had the oxtail plate and beef patty with ginger beer More food than I thought I was going to get oxtail (about 5 good size pieces) red beans and rice and cabbage my togo plate was so full I was surprised that it did not spill I could not finish there was so much. The beef patty was larger than the frozen with a flaky crust and with that lovely spice known within Jamaican food The ginger beer surprised me The best I had and it is from Jamaica which other brands are lnot Overall I am presently satisfied with Island Fish and Grits Just remember this when you go The menu is based on what is abled to get at market so food does run out quickly and very short on staff so call ahead to find out what is on the menu first

The fish is good and hot, and keep cooking them oxtail there delicious the curry and stewed chicken is good as well. I'm pleased!!

I've already left a review on this place before but wanted to share a photo of the chalkboard menu (subject to change I'm assuming). As always, this place never disappoints. If you're looking for good fried fish, don't sleep on this place

The food is terrific! But, ordered online through Doordash Storefront...paid. Got to location and they do not have a terminal or the ability to see the order. Instead, I had to reorder but they were also out of what I ordered. I repaid and the item that could be substituted was less than what I paid. Evidently they havent been able to do the online orders for a while. Seems a bit suspect. Call to place orders, the food is worth it as long as you do not end up having to over pay for what you wanted but did not get.

Update: The last two times I ordered from here, my order was missing a plate. I called the restaurant since it was odd this happened twice in a row now. The lady that answered the phone was extremely rude and quickly became defensive when I asked if she could confirm my order. I'm going to leave my comment from my original review because the food is good, I just won't order from here again. Original: I had the mullet and grits and it was amazing. So glad this place is on UberEats or I would never have found it! I will def order again when I’m in town.
