Bidrage med feedbackVery good food hands down when i want southern goodness this is where i go to get my soul food from great cooks and spirits from god to go with it amen.
I traveled to Pensacola for a church convention and was so tired of fast food. I searched on Yelp for a soul food restaurant. They didn't have a big selection but their food was good and homemade. It was so refreshing to have real food. I had baked chicken and rice, collard greens (no pork) and candied sweet potatoes (so good).
If you're looking for some good, down home, southern food then this is the place for you!! You know it's good when you walk in the door and the line is about 40 deep!! They have fried chicken daily and most of the sides are daily sides. They have different specials on different days. There's oxtails, hamburger steak, smothered pork chops and pig feet! Yes PIG FEET! And they are beyond delicious!! Don't pass this place up, give it a shot and you won't regret it!!
Reiteration Review Time: Engelwood All In One It has been quite some time since I have been to this local church eatery. Today I was craving some fried chicken and my husband has never been here before; so I figured let's go check it out. Tucked inside this church is cafeteria style dining. There are plenty of large tables for indoor seating. The menu was not changed when we ordered our food, but as you can see there are daily specials along with their usual staples of main entrees. So line up and let these sweet southern cooks make your overloaded to-go boxes of down home food. So I passed on the fried chicken, when I saw they had there fall off the bone absolutely phenomenally seasoned gravy ox tails over rice, accompanied with delicious greens and amazing fresh cabbage. My other half decided to try the super tender smothered pork chops over wonderful mashed potatoes, with a side of tasty lima beans and delicious greens also. All of these sides and entrees are a southerner's dream come true. I have no idea what they use to season their food with; but these men and ladies, who cook this food, do not slack in seasoning their food. I literally think they could cook my flip flop, and I would eat it. For dessert, my other half had the amazing banana pudding; and I had the peach cobbler (which had a little bit too much nutmeg for my liking, but it still had good flavor). I have no idea what type of mixer they use for their fruit punch, but it took me straight back to my childhood. It is on the sweet side, but I loved it with my savory meal. Overall Review: service (5/5) let this awesome church fill your bellies; and food (4.75/5) absolutely one of the best places to get your soul food fix, but the peach cobbler was a slightly bit over seasoned with nutmeg)...
Great food! Friendly service! Reasonable prices!! I live out of state, but Englewood is on my list of places to eat when I'm in the Pensacola area!!
