News Cafe - Papenburg

Had dinner here because we were in the park and it started to rain like crazy. So we ran into the news café and had a simple but tasty and cheap dinner. Unfortunately, they don't have desserts...

This café is beautifully located next to the city park with beautiful outdoor seating and magnificent views of the lake. But why is it that sometimes places with a great location think that they can calculate premium prices, but do not serve decent quality food? My salad was not washed. It still had sand and bird feathers!!! on it! The chicken kewer was cooked in raw meat, which is obviously dangerous with chicken and the baked potato is still hard and half raw inside. Terrible quality. I couldn't eat the food. I didn't want a replacement. At least the owner of the restaurant came out, apologized and did not have us for the meal we could not eat. Unfortunately, this place cannot be recommended unless they have significantly improved the quality of their foods.

After our walk through the centre of Papenburg and the adjacent city park we landed in this restaurant in a very modern, round building. We had a Sunday morning coffee and tea in the lounge area and that was good. When we arrived during the brunch, the buffet was still on the counter, but after a while it was taken away. The choice looked good and very varied, but we already had our late breakfast so that the timing was not right for another brunch. The restaurant is well located near the city park, the old restored windmill and the center of the city, so I think that is a popular place for locals and tourists alike. They have a separate seating area for smokers. Parking is also nearby.

The restaurant is just next to the entrance to Stadpark and oversees a lake. Food is reasonably priced. We had a full slab of spare ribs for just 10 euros that came with a generous portion of potato wedges and salad.

Unfortunately cannot recommend that place unless they've seriously improved the quality of their food.
