Bidrage med feedbackI don't really know why this restaurant is listed here? it's from a bio-BEE farm, almost everything has honey. I came in and asked for the vegan options and the waitress informed me that nothing is except the ice cream. I managed to 'veganize' an option that ended quite tasty (high quality organic food), but a 99.99% meat and fish restaurant on happy cow, while there are several other options?.
Food was decent if a bit overpriced, but so is the rest of Alona beach. Mention the word vegetarian and they will go out of their way to tout their food as organic and gluten-free etc etc. Atmosphere was completely ruined by a cat meowing in distress from the back of the restaurant towards the kitchen. This started halfway through our meal and continued for the rest of our time there. I got up to ask the staff what was going on and whether we could help this cat at all. They could not have cared less and sort of laughed it off without bothering to check what was up. Very dodgy. We left wondering whether they were killing cats in the kitchen. There are other places in Bohol that you 'll find vegetarian food. Give this place a skip.
Went out of our way to visit this place on the strength of other reviews so we wanted to set the record straight for any other vegans who are may visit in the future. There are two Buzz Cafes. The first is an ice cream shop on the main road. It sells no vegan products. The second is a deli and restaurant on White Beach. They have a good selection of fresh breads to take out, some of which are vegan. The spreads and deli items all contain either butter, honey or cheese. After chatting to the staff we went upstairs to the restaurant and asked which items were vegan. We were told that only one item on the menu is guaranteed vegan. Vegetable Noodles.
Buzz Cafe does have quite a few menu options that can be vegan, I truly enjoyed my fruit and nut salad (sans cheese and subbed dressing without honey). When I inquired about caribou and coconut milk icecream they told me all ice cream was made with the water buffalo's milk in combination with coconut milk. There IS another Buzz cafe about 1/10 mile away on the main street, with just ice cream and they confirmed their's was 100% coconut milk based. It was amazing!
The Bee Farm (which isn't listed on happy cow currently) is a large venue that contains the first main restaurant, an amazing natural shop you can buy all biodegradable products and home made breads, vegetarian/vegan spreads etc. The food will be similar to that of Buzz cafe I think (I haven't compared menus). There are some nice healthy fresh veggie options in a lovely setting by the sea. You must try the fresh lumpia!
