Bidrage med feedbackStaying at very expensive Oasis ranch inn. Disgusting overpriced food. Wanted a burger and fries. Not available at Ranch Inn. Drove 25 miles to Toll Road. Glad we did. Excellent burgers. My wife had a plain burger with sweet potato fries, enjoyed very much. I got a Frenchie with Brie cheese, fried onions and arugula. Delicious! Kinda expensive, $16 each. Reasonable considering we are in the middle of Death Valley. Our server Destiny answered all questions and checked on us frequently. The fact that there were only about 15 patrons at the time did not diminish our appreciation. Ambiance kind of bland. Didn 't go for ambiance, so not important.
Where to start we are staying here at Stovepipe Wells went to the restaurant this morning for the breakfast buffet. My companion is disabled requires a walker in order to walk. She used the ADA ramp to access the restaurant. When she got into the building she was unable to enter the restaurant because a very large locked gate prevented her from entering. I found the waitress asked if she could please open the gate. Her reply was that I needed to wait a minute. Ok we waited about 10 minutes before I went back was told that I had to wait she was the only one on did not have a key to the gate. She was angry defensive accused me of yelling at her. I politely let her know that we were not yelling at her, I didn't even raise my voice to her. Other patrons were gathering around as some needed to access the restrooms but were prevented by the locked gate. They had to exit the building go in the ADA door then back out around the building. Long story shortened, it took about 40 minutes for the gate to be opened by another patron who had tools in his truck not anyone employed by Stovepipe Wells. I did tell the waitress that after all of this we should at least be comped for our buffet. She replied she could not do that I would need to speak to the manager. In the end she did comp us for the buffet. The food was crappy but out here it is all there was. DO NOT STAY HERE!! It is a total rip off.
A little restaurant right on the main road in Death Valley when you're driving through Stovepipe. We only came for breakfast, which is a basic buffet bacon, eggs, French toast, cereal, etc. The food is okay nothing to write home about, but it will fill you up for the day ahead. I was surprised by how cheap it was, though. It was only like $9/person, which taking into account the restaurant is right in the middle of Death Valley where there aren't many services, the price is not bad at all. Staff are were beyond friendly and kind. Such a pleasant experience. They also have Wi Fi here, just ask for the password. It wasn't busy when we were here, but I imagine it would be at higher peak seasons because it was the only breakfast place in the area.
After what felt like a long journey back to solid ground after a long hike in Death Valley National Park, we headed to Stovepipe Wells for a break from camp food to try out the Tollroad Restaurant. The tasty food and large portions at this restaurant are the saving grace of this review as the wait to get service once seated was unnecessarily long. The food was quite good, the draft beer was cold, but it took over an hour to get our food brought to us (two burgers and fries). If you're looking for decent meal in the middle of Death Valley this is a good place, as long as you aren't trying to keep to a time frame.
We stopped by here after a day of hiking and playing in the sand dunes. The restaurant is very clean and staffed by very kind and genuine wait staff. The food prices were decent (what we would pay back home) unlike in Furnace Creek where we were staying. The food itself was good. Better than I expected given its its in a national park and a desolate one at that. I highly recommend stopping here for a meal. The staff themselves make it worth it.
