Rosso, Kajaani - Paltaniemi

Our waitress was friendly. Atmosphere inside was nice and the outside terrace had a good view of the market square. My shrimp pasta was fine (the sauce tasted like sweet chili) but there’s probably better options on the menu.

The building is old and was very cold. On inspection, the glass is only double glazed, so the experience may have been better if we sat on the inside. But we sat near the children's playing area, so this was a problem. The service was very slow to take orders, but quick to take money! The quality of the food was adequate for a chain restaurant, but I do wonder how much of it is actually fresh, rather than from frozen.

Disappointed experience with vegetarian pasta lunch special. Pasta topped up with oil. Barely any greens to be seen...and counted 4 cherry tomatoes. No taste..at all. Pasta was al dente...so thank to the sous chef for effort. I like the service but will not be back soon for food. Sorry to say but this is not the 1st time I have been trying to give a chance to redeem the opinion of the cooking standards.

This place represents everything that is wrong with franchise restaurants. I cannot think of a worse place in terms of price-quality ratio. The prices are high and the portions are small. The food is not even that nice. Let me just summarise it for you: They charge for the freaking tap water! This is just not done in Finland, and completely unexpected since it is not written anywhere. I left as if I had been cheated...I could almost hear Mr. S.Ryhmä laughing at my expense.

Nice interior, service was friendly, food is ok. Decent priced set lunch.
