Bidrage med feedbackWhen you're out and about in Paddington and looking for a nice place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, definitely drop by Chocolate Orange. Friendly staff and a great menu. My favourite so far is the brioche French toast with spiced pear, almond and mascarpone...yum!!!
I've got such fond memories of this place with my dad. He worked around the area and on days when I'd go with him, he always made such an effort to stop in here on the way (and we'd pass a lot of cafes to get here so it must be special). Alway got a muffin (savoury or sweet, both amazing) and coffee. Such a wonderful atmosphere, the staff were always so lovely and they have a fantastic range of food. Coffee wonderful also. I know my dad loved this place too. Thank you for the memories. I definitely recommend and would go here if I was over that way again!
I have had two great signature big breakfasts here in the past and I was happy to pay $21.95 as the food was all free range. Today I went for my usual signature big breakfast and the price had gone up to $23.95 and the portion was smaller. The food was not cooked well today, the mushrooms tasted like they were cooked earlier and kept hot and served (I could be wrong). The toast was actually more bread than toast, not cooked properly. The sausage was not very nice. With part of the meal not able to be eaten, that made the cost even higher. I would like to give you one more go, but I just won't pay $23.95 for a big breakfast! All said and done, you have the most exceptional customer service, your staff are so polite and friendly. And I love your location. I may be back in the future.
What a warm welcome we received as we arrived. We were greeted by the lovely Sophie - so friendly and full of smiles. This cafe is huge - options of sitting inside or outside and regardless of where you sit, there is plenty of space. I felt like I was joining the familly for brekky - rustic, bakery type feel with elements of a family home. I had the Brioche French Toast with poached pear and marscaporne and it was gorgeous. Love the savoury notes of pear (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the cloves!) against the sweetness of the brioche. The portion size was perfect (even though the greedy side of me wanted more because it was so yummy!). My coffee was excellent and the sundried tomato frittata I bought for the road was delicious!! Thank you Chocolate Orange for saving us from a terrible experience at a neighbouring cafe.
Basically hugged by staff on entrance was a pleasant feeling. Looks can be deceiving with this place, when you enter you think thats all there is to this place until the staff walk you through the nooks and crannies, take you downstairs (that also has great seating) and out into the luscious green garden seating area thhat just keeps going and going! Awesome. To turn a house into a cafe and keep all the housing aspects is brilliant, phnomonial homely feel. Its also being a family run business makes it more authentic. Great staff, polite and friendly. Ordered the coffee first and considering where we sat I can't beleive how quick the coffee arrived, spectacular! Ordered the main brekky and it arrived just as promptly and tasted excellent. Check out the home made cakes and pastries at the entrance, the amount of hours gone into prep and detail shows! Highly recommend chocolate orange.
