Bidrage med feedbackWe were here too early to try the lunch, which looked tasty, but had a drink. My mum said it was the best coffee she had during our weekend in Oxford. We also were given a free mug each!
This has to be one of the best cafes in Oxford. Great coffee and cakes. Good choice of fresh salads and wine by the glass. Staff are friendly and helpful.
An oasis of calm in the tourist madness that is modern day Oxford! Great coffee and hot chocolate and tasty cakes. Waiters unphased by requests for soya milk too.
Met friends here but was disappointed with the limited choice. I chose a GF wrap, as did some of my friends. The wrap, which was well filled with falafel, was meanly spread with beetroot hummus, but with a nicely dressed salad of which there were 4 from which to chose. Some chose the vegetarian curry which was served luke warm. Service is excellent with friendly smiles from the waiting staff. The puddings are designed for vegans. The chocolate not a cheesecake dessert was not very good for £5. Lacking in chocolate flavour it was stodgy and bland and had no sweetness to it.
We make regular visits to Oxford and wanted to try somewhere new. So, we looked at alternative cafe's (to our usual haunts) and took account of reviews etc. At first I wasn't too impressed by what seemed like a lack of choice. However, there are lots of options listed on the board and it's worth enquiring with the serving staff, so just don't go by what is on display. When the food/cakes came we couldn't have been more delighted. It was all of excellent quality and presentation. Coffee was superb and a really nice touch was filling and re-filling glasses of water; without being asked. Reasonable prices too. The cafe itself is quite bright and airy, which was just as well as the weather was truly awful the day we visited. It is housed in the Modern Art Gallery, which is slightly off the beaten track and is well worth a visit before or after eating. Definitely somewhere we would visit again and again.
