The Mill Tavern - Ottawa

Went to this restaurant and tried the fish and chips based on recommendations. They were good, and the service was excellent.

Cold Guinness and Fish Tacos. So maybe the two aren't an obvious pair, but they sure went down well on our second visit to this neighbourhood staple in Manotick. We had a great waiter (that was the owner I think) who took care of our big group with a smile and excellent service. Ok, so maybe it wasn't exactly like being in London, the Guinness was cold after all, but I like the vibe in here and I'll be back. Thanks for the great time gang. Cheers!

It is promoted as a "classic UK pub" so my husband was looking forward to their curry and fries. We love our pub curries, we have had quite a few. This was by far the worst we've ever had. Every other pub curry we have had is chunks of chicken cooked low and slow with lots of spices and vegetables, but this curry the chicken was finely diced as were the carrots and the sauce was a white creamy looking sauce with what tasted like just basic yellow curry powder. It tasted like they just used cream of chicken soup with curry powder, some diced chicken and carrots....and it was $16. If it was a cheap curry i would have just told him "hey, you get what you pay for"...but for $16 he could have got really good curry at a pub by our house. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap which was good, but it's pretty tough to mess that one up. But i chose the "roasted potatoes" for an extra $2.50 instead of fries....silly me for thinking they would actually be roasted...they were just deep fried baby potatoes.If you can't make a good pub curry, take it off the menu...don't throw yellow curry powder in a white sauce and call it a curry. Also, if you're going to call them "roasted potatoes" ...don't deep fry them

I was impressed with the selection of beers on tap - for a small town it was impressive to have at least 10 different beers on tap (some locally brew). The food was excellent- the Curry Poutine was innovative and excellent combination of a fusion of different flavours. Thank you for the experience!

Great Pub atmosphere, service was excellent, staff were super friendly and the food was spot on. Best liver and onions ever and sea salt/malt fish n chips were delicious. We'll be back!
