Caravela - Ottawa

Found this restaurant on a Trip Advisor request. It's a great find. It is located in a stripe shopping center, has a very discreet appearance. Once inside on Sunday at lunch, there are some tables available, and it is clear that the cartridges are regular and many... are of Portuguese descent; a good sign. The food is excellent and very authentic. Everything is fresh, well prepared and well presented. The octopus is excellent and delicate. My guest had the chicken. She said juicy and so delicious. The homemade Natas alone are worth the trip. It will be one of my regular stations when in Ottawa.

Four of us visited this restaurant recently for lunch and it was the first time for three of us. Nothing was said when we came in (no welcome) and as we were ready to settle at one of the tables, I noticed... there was an empty table on the back. I asked the only server present if we could take the table on the back and his answer was probably (with a shrug of the shoulders). Okay, I don't want to eat here now, was my thought... We sat down and it took some time to get to our table. We had a few questions about the menu and he answered them abruptly as if we were too inquisitiv. I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with some of the names in the menu, so just wanted to know what I actually ordered. He tried to convince us to have wine we didn't want. After we had ordered, we asked for some bread. His first answer was that we don't serve bread for lunch. Okay, but do you have bread? Yes, we could have something, please? He brought us a Portuguese bunny. Can we have butter, please? No, but I can bring you olive oil. Okay, please. Our soups arrived and not long after our meals arrived. We enjoyed all our meals; everything was very good. Not even did he come back to our table to see if everything was okay after our meals were delivered. We had to throw him to get pepper and get more water. We were literally ignored until we demanded our bills. We paid for our friend's lunch because it was her birthday he was good enough to share X 3 and we noticed that he charged us every .33 cent for the draw-out container, as our friend did not finish her meal. I was at a loss for words... I also left a cash tip on the table he came and took when he noticed that I put it there, but we hadn't even got up to leave the table. That's why I really wanted to love this restaurant because I love to support LOCAL and was happy with our meals as the food was delicious. I would definitely consider going back for food, but the Lord who served us could have been more pleasant and friendly. There is definitely room for improvements in the customer service page of things.

Excellent meal with good service. Let's go! Has a good menu for those who like fish and those who like meat.

Service and food were excellent! We were a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. The service was exceptional. It was my first time in Carvela and not the last.

Excellent food and service, we have been going to this restaurant for a few years now the food and atmosphere is always great!
