Clarion Suites Riverfront - Oswego

It is a simple but nice hotel. The room was clean. The bathroom was in good condition, clean and pretty. It is comfortable. The hotel has a very fun indoor pool, has an arcade and restaurants. Behind the hotel you can see the lake. Parking is free.Rooms: 5/5

The Clarion is in a great location within easy reach to pretty much anywhere you'd like to go in Oswego, including the trail along the river if you are a walker. There was a great Turkish bakery across the way, as well as a day spa where I got a lovely pedicure. It looked like there was an eatery in this area as well.There is plenty of parking in the front and in the back. The front desk staff are very professional. Our encounters with our housekeeper on 7/27 were quite pleasant and she was very helpful and kind when we spilled a coffee by the ice machine by our room.There was a coffee machine on the first level and it had decent coffee. I did not care for the coffee served at breakfast (weak . I did not like the eggs either (scrambled mush I call it , but the bacon was delicious and my husband said the sausage was very good. They had waffles that you make yourself, as well as delicious looking biscuits and English muffins. My favorite was the chobani yogurt and the fruit. They had macerated strawberries as well as canned peach slices. They also had fresh apples and oranges.The reason I took a star away was because there was no hot water in our bathroom sink and the shower drain was extremely slow, which makes for a gross experience when you have a lot of dirt and soap together, which was the case. (My husband is a metal detectorist and tends to attract a lot of dirt. I would have chalked that up to just an inconsequential issue that just happens, however I believe I saw a number of other reviews for this motel that had the same complaint. This tells me that they are aware of it but it is not getting fixed.Otherwise, the room was perfectly adequate and we had a nice river view that we enjoyed quite a bit. If the price was the same, I think next time I would try the Best Western Plus next door since they have balconies overlooking the river. All in all, this was a good place and I would recommend it.Walkability: Walkable to the riverfront, the Farmers Market and eateries.

It was summer time and all that my kids wanted to go was a Water theme park. Being in NY, I have had the luxury to go to multiple all inclusive water theme parks in the past like the Kalahari , Kartride and Great wolf lodge. In June, we found that a new small water park was coming up in Oswego and immediately booked 2 rooms for 2 nights in July, one for my parent and one for me and my family with 3 kids. Tickets to the waterpark was included with the room booking if we go through the specific link shared on the water park site. We (7 of us including my 60+ parents reach the hotel on July 17 (Monday after driving for 6 hours at around 4 30 pm. When we tried to check in at the hotel, they informed us that they had made changes to the water theme park at the end of June and decided to have the water theme park to be closed every Tuesday. We were never informed by email or a call that these changes were made and we tried our best to convince them about our situation. The staff understood our situation but nevertheless did nothing to help us in this regard and said that their manager had informed that they could do no concessions. To authenticate my review let me tell you that their were other customers (parents with kids behind me who had come from far and were in the same dilemma as me. I had no other option but to stay for the night as my parents and kids were tired from the long travel and we travelled back home the next day. Once back, the clarion asked me to review the stay and I send a detailed review stating my situation. The Manager (who informed the front desk staff not to entertain us sends me a copy/paste reply to my review . The reply is here. We stayed here for a baseball tournament, and found the location close to everything. Restaurant in the hotel was good (even if the outdoor bar server was clueless that there were other customers aside from her friends there and moderately priced. Bathroom is insanely small (if someone opens the door when you're on the toilet it will take your kneecaps off! but room was clean and sufficient for our needs. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially cleaning crew that were always in the hallways and willing to help.
