Sho-ann - OSTUNI

I travel the world and I love diverse food but as an Italian I have always been a bit frustrated by the lack of diversity in my country! I love Japanese food so I can't even begin to describe how happy I am to have found Sho-Ann and how good the food is in this restaurant. If you're in the area you must go!

We have been traveling in Italy for 2 weeks and needed another flavor profile. This sushi was AMAZING! We are picky re our sushi, and this was fabulous. Fresh fish!

Went with a friend last June. I did not grasp the meaning of having such a dark environment. Not sure about the style in a Japanese restaurant, but cannot be the one in this place. Food seem fresh, but please improve service. Extremely low and messy.... needs some improvements..

The restaurant, tucked away in one of Ostuni's narrow roads serves excellent food in its fantastic cave-like dining room. Because of the masterful interior decoration the ambiance is very romantic. Many alcoves in the wall reveal stone strata supporting candles. For me the lighting was perfect. Seafood themed wall lights and candles all over the place provided the ideal mood whilst each table had an almost invisible tube-like lamp suspended from above providing an almost sourceless pool of light. So you could see what you were eating whilst still being in the atmospheric cavern. The sushi and sashimi were expertly prepared in the same space and tasted truly fantastic. An amuse-bouche appeared whilst we waited for our food to be prepared. I could have eaten the whole lot again, but I often find this with Japanese meals. There were not many negatives for me. As far as the food was concerned I would have liked more wasabi and more ginger. The price, like so many Japanese places, was more expensive than its Italian competitors but then quite a lot of art and skill is involved with the dishes.

Nice place, well arranged. Good music. Excellent lighting. Service professional. Intimate atmosphere. Food of first quality, I suggest the sashimi salad, but everything we ordered was really fresh and tasty. I'm not at first sushi experience.... Price is right for the value of what offered.
