Bidrage med feedbackSicilian food. Sicily is an island, so seafood is king. I am not a fan of seafood, so I should not judge the main courses. I have been here a couple times and can say the desserts, appetizers, and wine selection are very good. I would eat there again.
We we’re visiting friends in Milan, and they wanted to take us out for a special dinner. Mind you, dinners in Italy usually happen a little later than they do for us in the United States, and last a little longer, as a rule. So we were naturally a bit reticent when they suggested we were driving 40 minutes to the restaurant! Their enthusiasm for this destination restaurant, which they had visited many times before, convinced us that if it was worth a 40 minute drive for them, with all the wonderful restaurants that Milan must offer, then it would be perfect for us! And I am here to tell you it was just that: perfect! All around the table, our group of six ordered many different courses and different dishes, and I confess I cannot begin to remember them all, but anything with seafood brought squeals of delight! So I will share with you what we ordered and enjoyed ourselves. We started with a prawn cocktail appetizer that was prepared with the finest ingredients and presented in the most beautiful manner, and tasted absolutely splendid! We then had a clam pasta in a wine, herb and oil sauce that perhaps sounds far more simple and pedestrian than it was. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the clams were plentiful and clean tasting, the herbs were all fresh, and overall the flavor was amazing. We ended our meal with a precious little panna cotta adorned with fruit and a cookie! Our host ordered the wine, and it was delicious, though I did not get a picture of the label and can tell you only that it was a crisp white with fruit inflections that tasted citrusy and perfectly complemented our seafoods! We highly recommend Mario and Osteria Roncate, for the quality of the food, the presentation, the flavors, the ambience of the inside of the restaurant, wine selection, and the surrounding grounds. This is a restaurant no one should miss if they are in Milan or the surrounding area!
I live in Osnago so it is a comfort to have such a great restaurant in walking distance. The food is really heavenly, very fresh, delicate, tastes excellent and very well prepared visibly. They also have a very rich wine list. The service is excellent and classy. It is truly the quintessence of Italian cuisine. Especially the seafood, I have tried in several locations and 5 star restaurants but this one is still my favorite.
