Griffin's Pub & Eatery - Oromocto

This place has decent food and good pizza but it's tucked away in a horrible not really near anything spot, right in the Canex at base Gagetown. On Friday nights they are a dance club with bad music so no family dining in the evening or really any dining. This place feels weird to visit and it's balcony is right next to the public pool that the Canex has. Meaning during the summer all you hear is a dozens of screaming children. The setup inside is dated and the service I've recieved has been anywhere from quite pleasant to down right rude over the years.

Before reading this review, I implore you to look at the attached photo. This is me, enjoying a coffee that I purchased 5 minutes before being kicked out of Griffins Pub Eatery. As you can see, the bar is empty save for 3 customers, two of which (seen on the left) I told to go there for the free wifi. You 'd think with this sort of volume, the owner would want to build a reputation for good customer service in order to draw more people. Instead, he asked one of his waitresses to request that I finish my coffee as quickly as possible and leave. He did not even have the dignity or ownership to ask me himself. The bottom line is, this owner only cares about HIS bottom line. This is especially ironic and sad considering his pub is located on a military base. Normally I tip in excess of the value of my coffee; I did not after being kicked out. Kicking a paying customer out of a virtually empty pub is counter-intuitive with regards to drawing more customers. It also builds a bad reputation, which is not good in any industry. I imagine Griffins Pub Eatery will continue to remain as empty as you see it in this image well into the future (on this point, I would gladly excuse myself if I felt like I was keeping a table from a hungry patron or group).

I’ve been here about 1/2 dozen times and the food has always been good and the service competent, friendly, and personable. This lunch however hit it out of the ballpark. They now have a part-time chef from Bangladesh who is creating specials. I’ve eaten all over and I like Indian and Asian cuisine but this was the best biryani I’ve had. Ample cubes of tender beef swimming in a mildly hot curry with excellent spicing topped by rice and veggies. Definitely will return.

Great service prices are fair, wings night Wed. Wings are very good. Full TV service. Music is just the right volume

Good decor, great service, good food and exclusive seller of morALE brewsters nanobrewery craft beer!!! Trivia nights, dance night on fridays, and local bands playing live very often. Always a good time at Griffin’s pub!!
