I've tried to visit here on a few occasions but just never had the time to visit. Today however I had different plans, was with my gaffer who didn't know the place, asked him if he was hungry (I know he loves a pie), so that was that. I was starving at the thought of finally eating here and I went for the chunky steak pie, mash, peas and gravy. What can I say, total comfort food at its finest. The pie was packed with meat, coupled with a lovely rich gravy and a very satisfying sound when my fork cracked the top of the crust and the pastry underneath was bang on. The mash, 2 genorous helpings was creamy lump free just how I personally like it, with proper and I mean proper mushy peas. The gravy smothered the meal was just the right consistency for me and was really meaty and tasty. A nice touch was I was asked if that was enough gravy and they even poured some more on for me. Nice touch. Also nice to see salt and pepper grinders on the table, which added extra flavour to the meal. I cannot wait to go back again to try the suet steak and kidney pudding. Highly recommended.
Yesterday, my husband and I bought two pies from this restaurant. I have always wanted to have a full meal here. I chose the meat and potato pie, which I enjoyed. My husband had the cheese and onion pie, however, he found it to have too much pastry and indicated a preference for Holland's pies. Regardless, I enjoyed my meal and will definitely be returning in the future.
Visited and was met by very friendly staff who offered a wide range of homemade pies with choices of mash and other extras. The pie was delicious and the mustard mash was superb. I finished off with a cappuccino and slice of the best homemade carrot cake I have ever tasted!! Fully recommend this place the food and staff are exemplary.. Lovely!!
I usually stop by this restaurant on Tuesdays after my gym session to grab a quick takeout lunch. They have delicious homemade pies, with a special one often on offer, and the gravy is absolutely delightful.
The two lads offer amazing service and can’t help enough, the pies are top quality and very reasonably priced. If this place was on deansgate it would have a queue a mile long. Traditional, honest down to earth food, can’t rate it highly enough.
