Read the reviews on Trip Advisor and found it really does live up to its excellent reviews. The Fois Gras was the best I have ever had followed by duckling which was cooked to perfection. With a pichet of red the price was very reasonable. We shall certainly be going again.

Situated in a charming, isolated hamlet this restaurant serves exquisite food. From chestnut soup with ceps and fois gras for entrées to steaks with roquefort sauce all excellent. I asked for my steak sanglante, my husband bleu to sanglante both cooked to absolute perfection served with crispy carrots and other vegetables. The roquefort sauce served separately so you choose how much you want) was delicate. We both had chestnut ice cream again delicious. The restaurant is out of the way and sadly when we went Oct 11th) we and one other person were the only customers. However, I imagine it is busier in the summer and definitely worth the visit. Ideally go early enough to wander around what looked like a charming hamlet. Service also excellent from a helpful and cheerful waitress.

The hamlet of Mauroul is in a remote but delightful location and the welcome from Brigitte and Jean-Pierre is warm and gracious. The food and service are outstanding. We drive many miles to get there and it is always well worth it. I know nowhere I would rather go for a special meal. It is excellent value for money.
