Bidrage med feedbackTsubaki is not your common Japanese restaurant in Oklahoma City. Not only is it located off a highway and in a gas station complex, but Tsubaki has its secrets! The secrets being that it has great authentic sushi and such a friendly atmosphere! The atmosphere is straight forward; seating, a sushi bar, and a clean environment. The waitresses are absolutely fantastic and quick to refill water drinks, take orders, and are very intuitive when you need something. We have gone a few times already before I created this review. In the most recent time, we ordered their Spicy Crunchy Tuna Rolls, which are seriously the BEST tuna handrolls and rolls (trust me, I've had both) I've ever had. They aren't made in the common style around OKC, but broken down into a tuna tartare which creates a smooth, soft texture and is mixed with crunchy tempura flakes and spicy mayo. It seriously is an orgasm for your mouth. Plus, you cannot beat the price at $5.50 a... read more
I wanted to try this place ever since Dave Cathey reviewed it in The Oklahoman. It was worth the wait. A sushi place seems kind of odd in the middle of this gas station strip mall, but the inside is decorated very nicely with wood paneling, browns, and blacks. My wife likes sushi more than I do, but we both ordered the lunch box specials. It didn't hurt that each lunch box comes with 4 bites of California roll (although wasabi and ginger are not included). For $8, the lunch box seems to be a good deal. You get miso soup, a small salad with the classic Japanese steakhouse dressing flavored with ginger and carrots, 4 bites of California roll, 2 bite-size shrimp dumplings, a scoop of sushi rice, some steamed and salted edamame, and your choice of an entree. I got the hibachi salmon. It was served on a generous bed of vegetables in just the right amount of sauce. She got the chicken tempura. It was served with some tempura okra and green beans. ... read more
Easily the best sushi in the city. True sushi connoisseurs must sit at the bar and choose the choice of the chef. This guy is legitical and they will not be disappointed.
The food here is comparable to some of the better sushi places around OKC. Unfortunately, the service needs a few tweaking. Our waiter, while very friendly and polite, could not understand much of what we said. When it was time to pay, we gave the waiter our card, then disappeared 20 minutes. I had to ask to ask another employee to find him. A little weird.
