Bidrage med feedbackWent in last night for some oriental food. Pretty good spot, but nothing to get real excited about. Ordered some lo mein with combination meat (that means beef, chicken, and some shrimps at these types of places). Noodles weren't exactly what I was after— real skinny. Chicken and beef were very good, but my shrimps were a little slimy and fishy (kinda like my ex-wife). Overall flavors were good, but still trying to watch the sodium. Maybe I ask for a light sodium version next time. Maybe I don't. Don't even know if it's available. Would like to know, but don't think I'll order it ever. I'll tell you the big plus at this joint were the Crab Rangoons. It's basically like a oriental taquito with cream cheese and some crabby chunks. Really loaded those suckers up, and I wasn't disappointed. Listen, the place is not bad. Give it a try if you are trying to avoid the buffets.
I have found that if a restaurant puts its name on a dish, it's probably good. This was certainly true with this restaurant. I got the Dot Wo hot pot. Lots of meat, shellfish, the fried tofu was a great contrast of taste and texture, veggies crisp but done, sauce mild, but flavorful with an occasional burst of ginger. Lots of Asian food is too salty, but this wasn't. More than I could hope to eat. Pleasant staff, comfortable surroundings. Not the cheapest in the world, but a top value for the money. Recommended.
The food here is the best Chinese food I have found in the OKC area. There are several very good vegetarian options. Great food that is affordable is sometimes hard to find but they have it figured out at Do Wo.
I have seen a lot of reviews saying this place has the best lunch specials in the metro area. They are absolutely correct, the lunch specials here are outstanding and cheap. Portions are large, and not so huge that you have to take half of it home. Oh, and if you come outside of the lunch hour it is a couple of bucks more and the soup isn't included in the price, so while the lunch special is really a bargain, don't worry if you miss it, it's still a great meal. My experience with Chinese restaurants in the OKC area is that sadly you get a huge amount of food, with very gristly and poor quality meat with a flavorless sauce, but it is insanely cheap in a bland strip mall center or a run down former fast food establishment. Your other choice is a trendy asian restaurant which is expensive, the meat is better but devoid of any complex flavors other than possibly a spicy taste, in a nice atmosphere. Dot Wo on the other hand serves a large portion but actually uses fresh vegetables and a much better quality of meat. Flavor is great, atmosphere also nice, as well as the service. If you get something with lobster, you are going to get a surprising amount of meat. They also have a lobster tank in the restaurant full of live lobsters. It is a pleasant surprise for a Chinese restaurant in the metro area, and well worth a visit, for lunch, or anytime.
