Gasthof zur Sonne - Oberkirch

Good eating and beer, a good place to eat when visiting the black forest region. try the flamingos, but go hungry, it takes some finishing

We visited this old place twice. both of us were supported by some very rude waiters. eating was good, but not amazing. I can't revive this place. it is dark and old and a bit down. maybe this is his charm, but. look elsewhere for a good German experience

Very tasty dishes from the region. good that we are back in the next night. prices are quite reasonable and correspond to other local restaurants.

Probably the best way to taste the food of a country, accepts the invitation of the locals. Of course, they are always dependent on their taste, but normally the result is worth it. gasthof to the sun has probably not received many visits from foreign countries, so I can say that I tasted the actual Baden cuisine, which is not disturbed by international tourist standards. I can only say that the salads were beautiful and also the meat dishes. The local specialties such as sour wort and kartoffel croquettes belong to them." pork was simply excellent and also the calves carving, all accompanied by delicious vegetables. we drank the excellent local pilsen beer and the atmosphere of wooden decorated lounge was simple and cozy. outside the temperature was -5c, but food puts us in shape to deal with such a cool night. I'm sure I'll come to my next visit in a bath!

The food is neither good nor bad, hence the title. Whilst we like the location and ambience, some of the staff do come across as being unfriendly and the service can be slow at times even when quiet. Would happily go back for drinks, though...it wouldn't be our first choice in Oberkirch for food.
