Bidrage med feedbackWe stayed with two friends for four nights. The property is well maintained, lovely and the people who work there are all very welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained with adequate closet space to put your things. The prices are certainly reasonable. I thought the breakfast was adequate although I'm sure some will find it on the small side. A little bit of fruit, some muesli and yogurt if you like, some freshly made juice and a plate of the day. They will make you some eggs if you don't want the Mexican breakfast.Generally I found the place to be very quiet. If you are on the first floor, you'll be close to the kitchen/dining area and you will hear the women preparing the breakfast and other guests. I brought ear plugs and found that helped quite a bit.
This restaurant enjoys perhaps the most scenic setting in the city of Oaxaca: a 16th century convent with lightly gurgling fountain, bougainvilleas cascade from the balcony, and hummingbirds and butterflies flit among the blossoms all around you. OH! And you get to eat excellent, oaxaqueño fare served by one of the most attentive and friendly staffs you can imagine. Well worth the extra effort required to track it down!
The Quinta Real is a beautiful hotel in a former monastery with beautiful gardens. Each garden has a different name and this was called Bugambilias as was the restaurant located here. We did not try the food. The drinks were wonderful. I tried the house special which was a cocktail with mescal and passion fruit juice. It was very good and went down too easily. It is an expensive place over all, but it is well worthwhile to come and relax and have a drink. Take a tour through the various patios and gardens. Bring your camera. This is one of the most beautiful locations in all of Oaxaca, which is saying a lot as Oaxaca has so many beautiful places. On Friday nights they have a Guelaguetza, a demonstration of the colorful costumes and typical dances from around the state of Oaxaca. This would also be a very romantic place for a special occasion.
