Great food, friendly service. Hard to find, but worth it.I really wanted to give five stars, but the restaurant doesn't do split checks. Makes business lunches a pain in the butt.

Love the outdoor seating by the water. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I love their cocktail menu a lot and their international and local beer list is great.

Delightful sausages. Atmosphere on Sundays with live music on the patio is lovely. The Pfannakuchens are well prepared. But make sure to eat nice and out. And ask for strawberry sauce. TRUST ME!!!!

Brotzeit Lokal is an unusual bar/beer garden right on the bay in Oakland. I was staying nearby and was very pleased to discover it. They have a modest food menu, including a number of German specialties (I had a two-item sausage platter), a number of beers and ciders on tap, and a full bar. There is both outdoor and indoor seating, all with great views.

Have loved Brotzeit for years. Today’s lunch was ever so disappointing. Waitress takes order including requests for no tarter sauce, extra plate for sharing, etc. Server delivers order, but has no knowledge of requests. Fries arrive cold and soggy. Fish undercooked. Cole slaw, now made with hot sauce, is inedible. Who adds hot sauce to cole slaw in a German restaurant??? Hot sauce is not a traditional German seasoning! No waitress or server in sight to ask for help. No waitress or server came by to check on us. So very, very disappointed.
