Ra Sushi - Oakland Park

Our meals were tasty, exactly what you'd expect going here. The rest of our experience was pretty awful. The restaurant is filthy and I personally found it disgusting. The place is totally cramped, no room to move and servers running around all over the place cutting between tables. It took just about two hours from the time we arrived until we got our main course, and it was about a half an hour until after we sat down that we received our drinks. We had to ask 3 or 4 times to have used dishes or drinks removed. For what it worth, I expected the days of Japanese chefs were gone a long time ago, but we brought the kids along and our chef, while being a nice guy, had zero tricks or jokes and pretty much just cooked our food.

They always overbook and ruin your night by waiting forever to be seated. Then you wait again to get a cook. On New Year's Eve they were ovrwhelmed from valet service to the end....

We waited for 45 minutes before we even got a table. Then we waited almost an hour to have the chef arrive to cook the food. The chef forgot that one of the patrons had a shellfish allergy and cooked shrimp on the grill, and made it unable for our friend to have anything else. Worst experience ever. They should have a chef for every grill especially on the night like New Year's Eve.

When our name was called, and a text message recieved, I was in the restroom and unable to respond in person or reply via text. While the wait was short, and I only went to freshen up maybe 5 minutes after we announced or arrival for our reservation, as I came up to the hostess station, she said my name loudly and angrily/annoyed and walked ahead of us as if I made her wait forever before acknowledging we were ready for our table. We were seated and waited about 40 minutes before our chef came to the table. We started sweating as we waited and the stove was on. However the drink orders and beginning courses were brought out quickly and our server was great!

My group of ten went for New Year's eve and that could be part of the problem. My order was totally wrong. One of our group did not get her entree and when did fried rice become an upscale item? We have always enjoyed Benihana, so think this may just have been a blip on their radar.
