This unassuming eatery serves the usual creole food such as soups, fried chicken, empanadas and fried plantains. But the best things are the pupusas, a Salvadorean national food. It is the best kept secret in the area. They are not even mentioned on the menu. Luckily, I found out through a friend. You will need to call to order the pupusas. Make sure to order way ahead of time because they usually tell me to wait twenty minutes. This eatery is small, just a barred window. The outside sign says pollo alegre with no indication of the offical name. There is one small table with a couple of chairs as well as a concrete bench. It is situated on the grounds of a gas station with the traffic of the main road roaring by. So feel free to enjoy your food while watching this busy area where the future train will soon service. Their chicheme tastes like it has very little sugar. That could be a good thing for some people. There are hardly any parking spaces available so it is best to have someone wait in the car while you pick up the food.
Very good attention from the staff. Very friendly owners and cozy atmosphere. Recommended. The pupusas are the typical dish of El Salvador and you will find it there.
