Bidrage med feedbackMy wife and I visited Hoble's Reiver Lounge on May 28, 2016. We had always noticed the restaurant as we passed by, but had never dined there before. Located just a kilometer away from Panjim, on the road leading to Ribander/Old Goa, the restaurant offers a non air-conditioned section, an air-conditioned section, and an open-air section outside. We opted to sit outdoors to enjoy the evening and escape the summer heat. We were attended to by a young boy named Sanjay, who although a trainee, provided excellent service. We ordered Crispy Veg and Chilly Chicken (Goan style), both of which were delicious. Before leaving, we had the opportunity to chat with the owners, Anil (the father) and Milind (the son) Hoble, who informed us that they also serve Fish Thali in the afternoons. We look forward to returning soon to try the fish thali. Additionally, Hoble's has a liquor shop next to the restaurant where you can purchase Urak, Goa's favorite seasonal drink. Urak is perfect for cooling down in the summer months in Goa, as it provides both refreshment and a little bit of a buzz. Just a side note, Urak season in Goa runs from February to May.
The reception was very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious, reminiscent of a home-cooked meal that tantalized the taste buds, although not quite as satisfying as the warm hospitality. I particularly enjoyed the Goan seafood dishes, especially the shrimp. The dining experience was excellent, especially with a glass of wine. I will definitely return with more food lovers to try out more dishes.
The restaurant has a fantastic location and serves good seafood. Some specific dishes are also good, but overall the food is average.
