Bidrage med feedbackWe were 3 couples our friend had told us about this superb special fish soup that is a monthly special at Gusto's. He said it made grown men weep. And grown women, I might add! This was a huge serve, as the main, of...course. Nothing else was required except the bread for mopping up all the divine broth. There was an enormously generous amount of prawns, a variety of white fish squid in this dish. It was even better than the ravings of our friend had suggested. The pleasure is much increased when expectations have not only been met, but exceeded, as with this special fish soup. Gusto also has many more very good dishes on its menu.
Went there recently. We had the crab pasta, beef ragu pasta, marinara and I had the risotto. Everyone loved their meals except me. The risotto was average otherwise my score would have been 4 stars. Wish I also had the crab pasta. Waiter was friendly...and the night went well.
Our group ordered 2 pasta and 2 risotto main dishes. All 4 dishes were generous in terms of serving size but the quality was appalling. The 2 risottos were dry, lacking in seasoning and in general showed a complete lack of care and technique. The...seafood pasta gluten free) was inedible. The pasta had a mushy, gluggy texture and the seafood was unappealing, over cooked and was not well seasoned. The crab pasta had a distinct burnt taste and there appeared to be burnt 'bits ' of something throughout the sauce. We told our waiter that the risotto was very poor and that the seafood dish was horrid. Nothing was done or offered. When the plates were collected by a different waiter) I had barely touched my pasta, but he didn 't ask if there was a problem which I thought was unusual. When settling the bill, I asked to not be charged for the seafood pasta, and the waiter said he 'd have to call 'the boss '. The feedback was he could reduce the price by 50% $15 instead of $30). My feedback was that considering I had told them how bad the meal was and that no offer of a replacement meal was made that the suggestion of having to pay $15 for an inedible meal was disgraceful. So, the bill was paid but we will never return based food that was well below an acceptable standard and amateurish, tardy service. Considering the competition of high quality eateries on the Parade, there 's no reason to visit Gusto. How an establishment handles a genuine complaint speaks volumes as to whether they take pride in the food and service they provide. I 'd suggest Gusto 's care factor on both fronts is nil.
We had dinner here with friends who made the choice. I had read some of the reviews and had reservations and unfortunately they were spot on. We all had pasta for dinner. The serves were of a good size but unfortunately the flavour was average...at best. The service staff member that looked after us could not have been more disinterested. We had one drink when we sat down and that was it no offer for anything else be it drinks or dessert from that point onwards. If there is another option i would suggest that would be a better option. Disappointing for the owners if they are not aware of what is happening to their business.
We dined at Gusto on Saturday night and we were very very unimpressed with the service and the attitude of staff. While we were ordering our meal the waiter was more interested in what was happening at the other table, making no eye contact whatsoever....Then when we ordered our second round of drinks, he was distracted on his way back into the restaurant by talking and greeting with some friends and completely forgot to place our order, We had to ask twice for the drink to be brought to our table. The food was OK but we won't be returning.
