Bidrage med feedbackMy wife and I stopped by tonight because she had heard that this place had really great food. As a fan of Peruvian style chicken I had to try it out. I felt bad because we got in a little before what looked like closing time, but Tony the bartender and the owner were extremely happy to serve us. This place has a full bar with several beers on draft including dos Equis. The restaurant itself reminds me of a cantina but there 's chicken decor spread about the bar and dining room giving it a light hearted feel. They were playing led zeppelin and other classic rock when we stopped in tonight which is always a plus. We ordered the chicken with two sides, and of course we had to try the specialty sides. Roasted corn salad, sweet potato fries, The lo-mein fried rice, and the black beans with the ham hock were the sides we chose. Everything we ordered was top notch and packed with flavor. The black beans and the rice in particular stood out but, the sauces stole the show. The flavoring of the green sauce and the spicy orange sauce was out of this world. They 're delicious in their own rights individually but if you double dip them like a Christmas tree as Tony suggests, you get a killer flavor combo you can pretty much eat anything on the menu with and it just becomes instantly better. The chicken was perfectly cooked, I probably could have eaten a whole chicken at that rate. extremely tender and juicy with that signature rotisserie taste. This place has great parking, killer food, and I thought it was really great when the owner came out and introduced himself to us and shook our hands even though it was at the end of the night and I 'm sure the guys were ready to go home. If you 're looking for a really fun bar that serves awesome food on top of it, by incredible people, do yourself a favor and ditch the tourist traps and eat like a real local at spots like this. we 're definitely going back soon for drinks and a meal.
This place is incredible. We?ve been several times and the food and hospitality is great every time. We?ve brought friends and family and never get a negative comment. It?s my father-in-law?s favorite chicken ?best in the world? according to him). If you?re local, this is a place to support. If you?re visiting, this is worth the drive from wherever you?re staying. Awesome stuff here. Pics from my Father-in-law?s 70th birthday dinner. It was incredible. They don?t normally serve family style, but they will if you have a party here.
We ate here for the first time today and ordered the half chicken with two sides, the empanadas, and a pot pie. The chicken was very tasty, as was the jasmine rice. The empanadas were tasty but didn?t have enough filling for the price, in my opinion. My husband and I ended up splitting the half chicken, because my pot pie was still very cold in parts. The chef was very kind and made me a fresh one on the house, but unfortunately, the second one was cold, too. My guess is that they make the pot pies in advance and freeze them. The crust was hot and flaky, but the inside was cold both times with semi-frozen carrots. The flavors and consistency were also not what I am used to in a pot pie. To end on a positive note, we would definitely come back for that chicken and the two sauces! Also, the restaurant was very clean and had lots of parking out back and on the street.
Some of the best food you can get in Charleston, especially for the price. Paco Tony are awesome- make the dining experience familial. I eat here every Friday like a ritual. Easily better than Halls
I thought I was getting authentic Peruvian food like I?m accustomed to in Thw metro Washington DC area. The chicken was not marinated and it was roasted but the skin was not crispy. The chicken and the red beans had a smoky flavor that was more a traditional Southern style of cooking. The salad and plantains were good. They don?t serve yucca. The green sauce was not spicy but had more of a vinegar tast. Needless to say I will not be returning. There is a traditional Peruvian restaurant on dorchester rd or Viva is much better. It is just roasted chicken.
