Health Food Herb Center - Newark

This place is a hidden gem, and I hope they achieve great success. They offer unique items that I have never seen in stores, such as May Wah brand mock meat. I also appreciate the variety of spice blends they have available. Although I have not yet tried their dining options, I will update my review once I do.

I recently discovered this restaurant, which has been family-owned for 40 years. It is a clean, old-school health grocery store with a small kitchen in the back that features a counter and bar stools. They offer a variety of items such as juices, smoothies, bowls, wraps, sandwiches, and various herbs and spices. Everything is made to order with homemade love and care.

I went with a friend to Vegan Outreach in Rutgers at her recommendation and we were thrilled with the experience. The restaurant was clean and beautiful, and the sandwiches (we both tried the Veg Corned beef sleeves) were delicious. It's a hidden gem in downtown Newark, surrounded by non-vegan options. They also had a great selection of foods and herbs.

I live in Newark, so I often visit this store for my vegetarian / vegan meat analog purchases, vitamins and herbal teas selection. I just started buying the Vegan deli sandwiches on site and it's DELICIOUS. The sandwiches are prepared with vegan deli meat analogues of your choice, along with salad, cucumbers, advised red cabbage and so on. They're winding like that. The staff is friendly and prepare everything for your wishes. I would recommend this shop/deli to all vegetarians and vegans. I must correct one of the first reviews by saying that they are not vegetarian and therefore meat / poultry deli items on their menu sad : . I was in store on 03/27/09 and I spoke to an employee and they confirmed that they serve meat products.
