Bidrage med feedbackA great lunch special right by NYU's campus. Came here after class a couple times. Flavor is great. I've gotten the pad Thai and the pad see ew before and both taste yum. The lunch special could be better value though. I've had lunch specials in the city that give appetizer, entree, and thai iced tea for $15, whereas Top Thai only gives you appetizer entree for $15 and they only give you a singular spring roll. I was a bit surprised when they brought out one spring roll on a plate like where's the other one?! Nevertheless I will be back, service and ambiance are good and convenience can't be beat.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE?! Did the owners or chef change?I’ve been a loyal customer since 2016. You could say I was obsessed since I used to order 1-2Xs a week. Raved about top Thai to countless friends coworkers. Their lunch deals were also excellent.About a year ago, I could tell they started skimping out on their dishes—e.g. lunch deal appetizer options decreased and 2 spring rolls went to 1 spring roll.Today, I ordered for the first time in a while and man… what happened? I always order tom yum, usually the larger size, and this is the saddest soup I’ve seen. It has a few chunks of onion poorly chopped mushrooms. No signs of the numerous veggies, scallions, cilantro etc. Tasted watered down, wasn’t spicy, and the chopping looked like an 8 y/o had done it. Can’t believe I paid $11 for a watery, lacking soup. Green curry also does not taste like it used to.I really hope they can turn things around, but until I hear otherwise I don’t think I’ll be returning anymore.
A friend recommended TOP THAI to us. we went there for dinner on a WED! the place is always very well booked, you better make a reservation in advance. it is, like many restaurants in NYC, noicy but yyou can still talk to each other! the servic was excellent! fast and attentive! the menu has a big selection, easy to find something! the quality of the food was superb! we went back two days later for lunch!!
Very good food. Love thai iced tea so much. I order combo basil udon every time. Pretty close to NYU. Highly recommend!
Came here on a busy Saturday night after a friend recommended it, but was still able to get seated after a quick 20 minute ish wait. They started us with our drinks at the bar before transitioning us to our actual table. The One Night in Bangkok was quite interesting! Forgot what ingredients was in this drink but loved the sweet and tangy taste with a slightly salty/spicy aftertaste? The crispy duck was fantastic! Appreciated the crunchy skin and the meat was super juicy and soft. We paired it with the green curry which tasted great but wish it was thicker (less watery). The green curry came with a good amount of veggies (eggplant, green beans, peppers, bamboo, etc). The khao soi noodles were also pretty solid! The texture of the noodles was chewy and didn't become soggy. The curry was very flavorful with the coconut and the accompanying chili paste and pickled veggies. Unfortunately the curry was also a little watery in my opinion. The decor was very cute with some traditional thai decorations from the 80s? 90s? Service was a little slow but I think they were super slammed. Loved how they do birthday celebrations they change the music to the birthday song, give shoutouts, and give you a dessert with a flamming candle along with IG board cut outs. Definitely would want to come back!
