Oaxaca Taqueria - New York

Walked in to pick up an online/MealPal order and was told that the boss decided not to do MealPal today. Well then take off your Tuesday MealPal on their website?? There?s no way to cancel a MealPal reservation, so now I am without lunch as I had to spend my time arguing with staff who told me they don?t have food and I am late for a meeting. The food is literally visible and there was a pick up order right in front of me. Why would I ever go back and give them my money? Oh that?s right, I won?t.

Apparently my experience at the West 38th outpost (where another customer literally called the police on the place) was not a one off. These people are just unpleasant to deal with.

I ordered the barbacoa tacos with a side of crema and guacamole. I wanted to like the food better but it was mediocre at best. The guacamole wasn?t very good?it reminded me of the fake guac and didn?t taste fresh. The crema wasn?t very flavorful?just tasted like sour cream. The beans and rice were nothing special. For $20 tacos, I was disappointed. The staff was nice though.

Place is tiny but not that crowded so there are some seats to sit inside or outside. Limited cocktail and drink choices but the tacos w the side of rice and beans that come with it was very delicious. The server was friendly and gave us some good recommendations. Would go again to eat!

Really amazing tacos. The shrimp tacos I had were the best. Not the cheapest tacos nor the largest but the quality was excellent. My only wish is they had better sauces at the side counter to add, if desired. They just had generic hot sauces you can get at a store whereas some places had their own sauces which is fun to try.
