I am a huge top chef fan and always knew Chef Buddha was special from the first episode and that he would win it all. I made sure to make a reservation before the finale since I knew his restaurant would be sold out in no time. I came a little early and got to chat with Chef Buddha and his experience on the show and just his approach to how he likes to cook which was very inspiring. The restaurant only has a few tables in the back of the caviar shop and seats about 10 people. Decor was sleek and clean and they made good use of the space. I was very excited for the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. There were quite a few dishes that were absolutely incredible and flavors and textures that I've never tasted before for ingredients that I though it knew well. My hands down favorites were the cod, seaweed butter w bread, egg custard, lamb, and tres leches dessert. Cod I've had cod many times in my life but never had a cod that melted like butter. This was just genius and the sauce was delicious and presentation impeccable. Seaweed butter with bread not the biggest fan of bread in general but this bread was amazing. The seaweed butter was divine and I could lather that on everything I eat for the rest of my life if I could. Egg custard just wow. The crunchiest and freshest peas I've had. Egg custard was flavorful and executed perfectly, so creamy. Guanciale added a lovely saltiness and texture to it. Lamb executed perfectly, so tender and sauce was so delicious. Tres leches I'm not big on desserts and generally don't like tres leches but this was right up my alley. It was not overly sweet and just perfect for me. Presentation was impeccable as well. I have to give a shout out to the lovely server that helped us pick a wine think her name is Jackie? even though literally all I told her was it wanted something not dry and a bit fruity and it was exactly what I wanted. It was so good I'm now going to get a few bottles. She was super friendly, great personality and just made it a great experience. After the first course I immediately tried to find a reservation for the summer tasting menu and it was already long sold out. Chef Buddha's taking the culinary scene to a new level and his vision and precision in his execution is just inspiring. I am excited for all the great things he will continue doing and I can't wait to try more of his dishes tasting menus. Now if only I can get hold of a reservation! P.S. it's also incredible how his team can execute such perfect dishes in such a small space! This makes it even more inspiring. Will definitely come back! Service was impeccable and simply just an awesome experience!
Nice presentation of the food, but some how the caviar doesn't really match with everything. Especially the dessert, when you try the first bite, mmmm...when you try the second bite with caviar, you can't really explain the taste.
Eating is so delicate and tasty. service is amazing. the atmosphere is great despite the very small escaping. must visit!
This evaluation was only for lunch. I was thrilled to eat here after I won chef chef at the chef. we couldn't get any more food, so we decided to lunch. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. it took half an hour to eat two things, and two glasses of wine, the dog and a grilled cheese were 170. I don't care about eating money, but even I thought it was crazy. we ate a pizza. I'm sure his dinner would be spectacular. but the missed definitiw the mark.
