Bidrage med feedbackWe ordered 3 things off the menu: chicken and duck mouse, the Augustine burger, the Augustine Flammkuchen. The ambience in the restaurant is great, it's calm, slightly upscale, and relaxing with an slight upbeat vibe. The service here is excellent because it's attentive and constant author being overwhelming. Today we had the pleasure of having Fay service and she was tremendous. This review is solely based on the food but they got 2 stars because Fay was excellent otherwise I'd give it 0 or 1. The mouse was so incredible because it was sweet and creamy, but also had a little subtle salt. The brioche bread that accompanied it was really tasty. The entrees were mediocre and bad respectively. My girlfriend thought the Flammkuchen was good I thought it was average because the taste was good and the added bacon was a good texture and flavorful, but the bread was over done. The last piece which really cause the drop of all Stars on this rating was the burger. A medium rare burger with added egg and bacon. The bacon tasted dry and like it was made a few days ago along with being cold. The egg was over easy and runny, but came well done with a hint of yolk. The burger was supposed to be medium rare, but came well done, blackened on the top and bottom with a charred taste, and cooked to dry hell. Overall I think based on the service and the mouse I'll try it once more and if the food ends up being excellent then I'll adjust my rating appropriately.
Curiously enough, even though we have stayed at the Beekman Thompson hotel twice (the restaurant is located in the hotel 's ground floor , we have never dined at Augustine before. Upon learning that Markus Glocker, the illustrious Michelin star Chef of Bâtard Tribeca took the reins of Augustine, we felt we couldn 't procrastinate any longer. And a right decision it was! Great delicious food, expertly prepared and appetizingly plated. Such a great balance of the traditional French fare, bistro style, served in a typical Belle Epoque brasserie interior, and a modern twist, newer and surprising ingredients, with the addition of the Chef 's native Austrian staple dishes (Beef Goulash with buttermilk spätzle, chicken dumplings, veal schnitzel, or the Viennese wedding soup all of the above combined to create an entirely positive dining experience. What a delight! The lovable service provided by Katya, the affordable prices (a true epitome of rapport qualité prix , and a nice wine list all were an added perk. We already booked our second dinner there, in less than a month. Highly recommended.
This restaurant is a slice of Paris. Elegant, classic decor, efficient and crisp service, and excellent cuisine. Prices are expectedly high but fair given the quality of the cuisine and preparation. My wife and I came for a special dinner. I had the yellowtail crudo appetizer (shared with my wife), beef goulash and my wife had the poitrine of duck. Soooo delicious! Portions didn't look huge, but we were so full we didn't have room for dessert. Furthermore, the restaurant gave us two financiers when the check came. Nice touch! The Beekman hotel next door has a stunning lounge that you pass through to go to the restrooms. It's busy all the time. Why not treat yourself once in a while and make the trip? P.S. I recommend this more highly than the more famous and extremely busy Baltazar in SoHo.
Great venue. It was packed yet the space still felt open and had low noise level. Service and food was top notch. They even had Grey Lady on tap! A great dining experience.
Augustine has a certain charm to it. It’s based in the heart of Financial District in the Beekman Hotel which bodes an art deco feel which is not typically associated with the neighbourhood. In the restaurant, there’s hand-painted tiles which are plated across the walls, vintage mirrors, a main antique clock and wooden tables covered with white paper and a red leather banquette flows through the edge of the restaurant’s interior. It’s a mix of an eclectic French bistro, New York lunch diner hipster club lunch spot; and the crowd mirrors the diversity of the vibe.
