The smells coming out of this place was calling me. I was already looking for a bite to eat, and that awesome aroma made it easy. I was not disappointed at all. I opted for the spicy jerk chicken. The lady preparing the food asked if I was sure I wanted spicy because it was not the typical American spicy. I opted in to take the plunge. My nose did run, yeah. But the flavors of the chicken were intense and good. So the spicy was worth it. It was served with plantains, green salad, yellow rice, and cabbage, all of which were good. The lady taking my order and the lady preparing the food were both dynamic. They provided excellent customer service.
Delicious Caribbean food and big portions. The menu is very different than what is posted on Google. Mainly jerk chicken, shrimp ,or fish; while snapper, fish, or a special. We had a jerk shrimp wrap and jerk chicken wrap at mild spice. There is just mild and hot, no medium so don 't ask. The mild still has some heat to it, so if you don 't like any spicy foods, this probably isn 't the place for you. The food was super flavorful. We also had a mix of the hibiscus and cane juices, they called it and Aretha Franklin . This was also super good and unique. Minimal seating, just 2 tables outside the shop. You order at the doorway, and sit outside.
On my recent trip to NOLA we accidentally stumbled on to this restaurant dragging our many bags of luggage around killing time before our AirBnB was ready several blocks away. We ordered the Jerk Shrimp Wrap. Talk about absolutely amazing!!! This will be my first stop when I go back to NOLA for lunch! Loved the heat and spice! These gals got it going on for sure! ????
Bar none, as far as im concerned, this is top 3 place to eat in New Orleans it ain't number 3). I would need a book to properly express how home feeling, delicious, affordable, and soul affirming the food service is at Coco Hut so just save time, go, and thank me later!
