Bidrage med feedbackA small restaurant hidden away in the Alaknanda Shopping Complex, it’s on the first floor and the staircase is very low and can be managed by people with reduced mobility. Décor is simple and harks back to old films from Tollywood with instrumental versions of hit Bengali music playing softly. Staff were professional and prompt and advised us what would suit us best. When it came to the food, I was disappointed as to how everything was over the top spicy, there are many Bengali dishes which only have one chilli added for flavour and nothing else here they had added red chilli powder to a basic dish like Cholar Dal which I haven’t even seen at Dhaba’s in Bengal. The high point for me was the jaggery Sandesh Hester up and some molten jaggery poured on top of it.
I stumbled upon the city of joy serendipitously. A friend had taken me here for dinner. It is pretty close to CR park market number 2 a walkable distance). They serve bengali cuisine. The price is slightly on the higher side, but the quality of food demands the price. We had an assorted veg and non veg meal and each dish worked hard to steal the limelight. My personal favourite was mochar ghonto, but all others were almost equally good. The basanti pulao and mutton kosha were recommended earlier and did not disappoint. The service is reasonably fast and the waiter gave us good suggestions. The walls are filled with photographs of old bengali movie stars that try to give you a nostalgic feeling.
Authentic Bengali food! Serves hot n fresh! Absolute delight! Ambience needs to be taken care of as it is the prime thing which attracts crowd! Good service...
We love Bengali cuisines and this place is a regular. They have maintained the consistency over the years. Though I haven't tried all the dishes from the menu as we usually order favourites like kosha mangsho, dhokar dalna, mochar ghonto, macher paturi, koraichuti kochori and pulao. Even the fish chops and kobiraji's are yummy starter options. The service team is polite and gentle.
Food 3/5 Ambience 3/5 (location is a bit weird) Service 3/5 Cost Expensive in comparison to quality. 350 450 per person. Good Ampanna Sarbat, Koraishutir Kochuri, Chicken Korma, Fish Chop Not good Fish Kabiraji (too much oil), Posto Narkel Bora (a bit sweet), Chhanar Kalia
