Teranga - Nantes

The word « teranga » means « welcome » or « hospitality » (in wolof, the native language senegals), which is the opposite of what I felt when I visited this institution. management should understand that any employee is a representative of their team and any customer could possibly bring in or discourage future business. because of the fact that the restaurant on Friday was almost empty, in the top dinner hour, I suspect that the management welcomes the possibility to bring more business. After having lived and visited several times in senegal, I am very familiar with the Senegalese cuisine and enjoy presenting it to my friends and business partners. I am new at nantes and considered this restaurant to offer a event. because of my first contact with one of the employees (behind the bar, can or can not be manager or owner) I will never put foot in this restaurant again and I have repeatedly told people about my negative experience. I'd rather prepare for eating myself and have friends for dinner. it is very regrettable that they have lost the opportunity to demonstrate the Senegalese hospitality that I have often praised as the best I have ever experienced.

So happy we found this place (thanks to tripadvisor.) really good and healthy eating and the kerl (for the owner we just loved! wish him all good, and for u who have not yet tried this restaurant; please do!

We had a hard time to find an open restaurant not too far from our hotel in nantes when we stumbled on this restaurant that had very good tripadvisor reviews. we thought it was worth a try, and we're very happy that we did. choice that was extraordinarily good. first from an atmosphere perspective, it is convenient but downscale. there is a bar where they enter the restaurant, and the dining room is from the right. service was very good, with our waiter in the position to speak English and help us in choosing the dishes. the appetizer board, as shown in some of the pictures, was really good. I had the Senegalese special fish shell that was excellent. my daughter had grilled all the fish and again she thought the court was great. my wife had the Senegalese chicken court, and again thought the court was great. we also tried several desserts. the Senegalese abstammungsblanc was like yogurt-based reispudding, but more liquid. very good. in any case it is worth going when they are in nantes.

When I was told there was a senegalese restaurant in nantes...I was dubvious. But the word of mouth was good and I was fed up of the french palette...so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed. This guy has put quite an effort...in a nicely decorated, very clean and yummy senegalese bistro. He has open up to caraibean influences allowing nice rum treats (like the Ti 'punch, or his yummy rhum arrange making it more festive for the french public. But at the same time he kept the best and a wide selection of senelagese gastronomy. The Tieboudienne (national dish was nearly perfect (he did not you the yet a fermented seafood that gives an carateristic and unique twist to the dish in order not to scare off the locals. But other wise I had a full blast!!! Go, enjoy and support the guy!! A little food diversity is more than needed here!

Teranga is the bes place to have an African dish and good drinks in Nantes,France. I met Muhammed who is very entertaining and nice. Down to earth guy...little did i know he owned the joint. He really too care of me and my team during a visit to Nantes.Any one who needs a quick African touch should look no further than TERANGA!!!
