The Wellington Pub - Nanaimo

The servers at this restaurant are excellent! The drinks are worth the price. When we're in Nanaimo, this is the place that makes us feel at home, especially when the bartender remembers us from our last visit two months ago. Thank you to "The welfare" for the warm welcome and great service - we will definitely come back!

After a tiring journey in traffic, we stayed overnight and were looking for a quick meal before catching the ferry in the morning. We needed something that could be served fast as I had a zoom meeting shortly after our arrival. The staff was warm, friendly, and efficient, making sure we were served in record time. Plus, the restaurant had a lovely view of the sea.

We visited this restaurant during the pandemic and were asked to show our vaccination cards. While the staff checked ours, we noticed that they did not check many others who claimed to be regulars. The typical bar food was delicious, but the place felt a bit outdated, like a beer hall from the 1970s.

I never thought I was a bad review... shame I've been here regularly for over 20 years. New owners...some other pubs in town... seem to have dramatically brought the same mentality....Kimps to the quality of food and RAISES PRICES! Last straw....will be at $4.50 for...an order of 10 went to $8. Now I know that this is in line with what some other pubs offered BUT when I tried these wings in other pubs, the QUALITY was soooo much better! So-called specialties are now very mediocre.... Like $2 or $3 off... not the server's mistakes at all-just Ownership. And for heaven's sake, it's not only encoding fare up (not so much! . Have already visited other pubs and restaurants.... Sad to see such a great pub as fast downhill.

Second time in a month we have gone to the Well. A noticeable difference in food quality, just not as good. Servers try hard but today we sat down at the table we were directed to and 15 or 20 minutes later we left, no...one came to take our order. Maybe just because of the times, we will try one more time in a week or so. Fingers crossed
