Nellie's Deli - Nanaimo

The food at this restaurant was awful! I ordered the German potato salad for a family gathering and it had an overwhelming salty taste. The almond cake I ordered was dry and no one enjoyed it. The only decent dish was the apple cake. After spending $140.00, I expressed my dissatisfaction to the owner, but unfortunately was told "too bad."

All ingredients are super fresh and the sandwiches are tailored. The egg salad and Bratbeef are my favorite sandwiches. The roast beef is perfectly cooked and is so delicate. You can say that the people who work there really care about the...products they expose. I always found the ladies very friendly. It can be busy because the food is so good, so I often call my order, it's always ready when I show up.

Apparently overpriced for a simple sandwich. Not to mention the wild grim Australia... extra for salad?! Become a regular, first time since Covid. May not return...

Nellie's is a classic European-style restaurant known for its delicious homemade sandwiches, soups, and baked goods. The carrot cake is particularly noteworthy and unlike any other you've tried - seriously amazing! Although lunch rush can be hectic, the service is quick and efficient. Most customers choose to take their food to go, but there are also a few tables available for dine-in.

A great little place to stop in for a home-style soup and sandwich or pick up some specialty deli meats (my husband buys rolle polse sp? here) and the best-ever mint or orange nanaimo bars. I highly recommend the dutch apple pie as well!
