Bidrage med feedbackI had visited Trattoria Amalfi first and I declared it my favorite restaurant. However, I love Via Emilia just as much! The food was truly amazing, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was relaxing and beautiful. I honestly feel this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Connecticut. It is definitely worth a visit! We had a wonderful time and we will be returning soon.
I have to admit I was a bit disappointed after all the hype about this place. Perhaps it's because I was looking forward to some classic Italian cuisine but instead found dishes that combined odd combinations of ingredients that did not work well together, perhaps in an attempt to be creative. The service felt rushed. The atmosphere was very loud. Expensive. There are better choices in Mystic.
I can not say enough good things about Via Emilia. We ordered the meatballs followed by the Mezzaluna (me) and the Cappaletti (hubby). It was honestly some of the best pasta I've ever had! I come from a very Italian area in NJ. I do NOT say that lightly. For dessert I had the chocolate torte and hubby had the ricotta cheesecake. They were both outstanding. Our server Lucas was also fantastic. If you are in Mystic this is a must!
The portions are extremely small for the price and the type of food.Italian food is synonymous with large portions and low prices, while the quality here is better than your average pizza shop, they miss the mark on both of those fronts. One of the things I like about going out to a good Italian place is the leftovers. A few days in my fridge really gives all those flavors a chance to come together in a way they never will when you eat it fresh. I challenge anyone to walk out of this place with a doggy bag.Lastly, the menu is pretty small. While you can get away with tweaking it a little like asking for a different pasta or different meat for a dish it’s hard to give an Italian restaurant a good review when their entire menu can be summed up on 1 side of a 8 1/2 x 11 copy from kinkos.Everyone in Mystic will tell you that if you want Italian go to this place, but once you go here it begs the question is this really a good place to eat or is it just the best the shoreline has to offer?
One of, it not the best dining experiences ever. The food is some of the best I've had and the service was phenomenal. Our server, Sandy was very attentive, the service was unparalleled. I highly recommend anyone give Via Emilia a chance when possible. You will not be disappointed.
