First you have to cross a bridge over a river, follow a gravel road (Google Maps is spot with location btw) and then you have a man show... cooking, entertainment and serving. Fantastic tasting menu with ingredients from the environments. Wine from neighbors. Bar only and probably more expensive than other places in Purmamarca, but then again this is an experience not dinner. Would repeat every day of the week and I operate some of the best restaurants in the world for a life.
If you want a fabulous dinner and unique personal experience, eat in the house of Gabriel. We've been in Chile and Argentina for two weeks, and that was the best meal we had so far. Gabriel has an obvious passion for cooking and delivered us...with an amazing culinary experience along with a warm personal touch. We had trouble finding the restaurant, and Gabriel came and met us on the main road and brought us there. We ate in the dining room while watching him prepare the various dishes in the adjoining kitchen. Each course was delicious and artistically presented. If you are adventurous and want a unique, fabulous, unforgettable experience as Comidas Gabriel is a must! If we would ever return to Purmamarca, we would come back here every evening.
That was, hands down, the best meal we had during our week trip in Jujuy. Do not let the environment fool you. First. You will eat in the house of Gabriel, which is not in a restaurant. His very economical house is located in the direction of the... end of a dirty road and your first reaction, when you arrive in Gabriel's house, will probably be: "What did I get in?" as you will be the only people there. However, trust the TA evaluations. If your culinary experience requires beautiful surroundings, white tablecloths and an extensive menu, this is not for you. However, if you are an adventurous traveler who really takes care of the food and is willing to take a risk, this place is for you. They literally put themselves in Gabriel's hands and wait to see what comes from his kitchen. Gabriel is an excellent boss; the execution of the dishes that come from his small kitchen is simply amazing. You can say that he has been perfecting his dishes for a long time and cooking with passion. His Quinoa “Raviolis” are an unforgettable dish. TIP: Call Gabriel the day before and let him know about any nutritional requirements.
Our private guide recommended this place and it was simply the best food experience on our Argentina trip perfect place for food. You need to contact Gabriel at least 4 5h before dinner by phone or Facebook. It is super responsive and cooked...we are an absolutely delicious 5-course menu. It was cooked with so much love and full taste. Haute Cuisine in Argentina. Although it is difficult to find it (has parked on a crossroads right in front of Purmamarca and going over a bridge to its village private house), it is absolutely worth and an unforgettable experience with local food in one place.
This is the most unique place we had a meal at during our 6 weeks in Argentina. And what a fantastic meal it was! Gabriel is an excellent creative chef serving beautiful dishes from local ingredients. Avocado salad, quinoa ravioli, lama ravioli and lama stew...were exquisite: fresh and bursting with flavours, so beautifully presented. And the deserts were to die for coca chocolate cake, apple cayote cake and home made ice cream with muña muña... DELICIOUS. If you are into good food and love authentic cultural experiences, visiting Gabriel is a must! Just make sure to call and book in advance. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon, Gabriel!
