Bidrage med feedbackThis is the second time we 've eaten at The Gale Street Inn. The first time was really good. Everything was fresh and cooked to order. BUT, something happened to their quality over the past 6 months; everything went way down there were only 15 other people in the restaurant, so you would have thought that the service would have been great nope. It was extremely slow. When we got our salads, they weren 't fresh at all. Parts of my lettuce were brown and Wilted because it was old lettuce. the cucumbers were translucent, slimey and wilted. I had a couple bites after pulling out as much as I could to try and salvage some of it. After 3 bites, I set it aside. The bread was great! Hot /Fresh! We asked for some more bread and was told they woud bring it right out It never came When we ordered our meal, we asked if The Mashed potatoes had garlic in them. Our waiter said a very little bit for flavor . I think she needs her tastebuds fixed. When they came, my wife took one bite and gagged. She said it was horrible. WAY Too much garlic. She tried a couple other bites and couldn 't eat them. Most mashed potatoes come out white and fluffy. These came out lookly like they had been sitting for a while. when the waitress came back to check on how everything was, we told her that she couldn 't eat the mashed potatoes because of having too much garlic. She did swap it out for baked potato. My fries were a bit over done, but I 'm ok with that because I like Them to be a little crispy . My steak was descent, had a good flavor and was cooked correctly. My wifes, was raw in the middle and couldn 't finish it. When I spend over $120.00 for a meal, I expect perfection! After all, Isn 't that why we 're being charged so much? when we pay $62 plus for one piece of meat, They are telling us that their food and service are Top Notch. well tonight, it was Nowhere close; it was more like a $20 meal and we were both extremely disappointed.

We were easily the youngest people dining by 20 years. The sort of place where older people want to splurge big on the check but also take home a doggy bag. 1960s preparations with tons of random things on the plate. They do meet all the minimums for the price. But barely. The Caesar salad had anchovies even if they were easy to miss. The grilled peach caprese had grill marks even if the peach was still quite firm. The whitefish was fishy, which having grown up around lake fish, is what I want. The servers were trying, but lots of small details slip through. Like the cocktails weren't mixed so multiple people were complaining of a solid layer of water or spirits sitting on top. At this price, the details should be exact. Their older clientele probably love this experience. But a younger crowd would be happier with reasonable portions, more sensible prices, and tighter service. Our server insisted the $100+ lobster was a 2lb portion instead of 10oz. I'd much rather pay $30 for a 10oz lobster portion, and have room to order a side and a dessert with it, which would probably make the restaurant more money anyway. Dining is quite loud because they're loading cranky old people up with wine and then having to apologize for every tiny detail. It's okay. I'd take my mom here. She'd think it was fancy.

My husband had prime rib, and said it was some of the best prime rib he's ever had. I had white fish almondine, and it was very good. It came with lots of veggies. It's lovely sitting in the restaurant and looking at Diamond Lake. We'll be back soon.
