Bidrage med feedbackThe 6 of us stopped in for dinner and had the rump steak special. That was an unfortunate choice. You might have thought it was just a poor special, but the other 2 meals were not good either. Really nothing to recommend the food here; that was our experience
Been to the RSL many times in the past. The venue is now excellent with new management of the restaurant and bar. Food is very good with an extensive menu. Excellent staff. Large dining area. Access to pokies and a recently installed TAB service with many TV screens. Also separate room for private functions.
100% awful experience here. Hideous building on the outside cocoons a confused and unwelcoming space on the inside. Lining up to order your meal is always a turn off for us and explaining to extremely young staff members behind the counter what they need to do is simply sad. There are multiple bar serving points so the bar staff lose track of who has been served and who is waiting to be. The chef's rump steak special was simply pathetic and I am sure the kitchen staff heard the roar of laughter from our table when a small shrivelled piece of meat landed in front of me. Gaming room is unmanned and everything in there is old, worn out and sticky. Simply could not wait to get out of this place. It's no wonder this place is often under new management and the doors are still open. Avoid !!
The meals are obviously pre prepared then reheated, our chips were stone cold so guess they forgot the repeat step. Butterfish was ok except some parts were scalding hot and middle was lukewarm. Staff were friendly when ordering drinks and meals but not interested in post meal comments, guess they have heard them often.
Just visiting from England to see fam in Aus and when we do we try and support the Returned Services League clubs This one is great, friendly staff and good, wholesome food at a reasonable price. Attached to the club is a really nice Anzac museum , some amazing memorabilia there . Don’t miss it if you are in Mount Gambier. It does lunches, and evening meals start at 5.30 pm. We had broccoli and bacon soup with a complimentary salad and roll, very tasty.
