Bidrage med feedbackAfter dropping our daughter off at camp, my wife and I were looking for a nice place to have breakfast. We ended up choosing Timber Co and we were pleasantly surprised! It was a lovely morning, so we decided to sit outside on the patio. The view of the golf course was stunning. The breakfast options were diverse and more upscale compared to other restaurants in the area. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient, making for a relaxing breakfast date.
Timbers restaurant was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. However, we had to wait 5 minutes for staff to find coat hangers for us. The dining area felt cold, as if the air conditioning was on. Unfortunately, there was no announcement made regarding where to find a cup of coffee. The punch was available, but not easily visible or announced. The soup was okay but quite spicy. When we asked for more bread, we were informed there was none left. The main course consisted of pork chops with a cold apple topping, which were tough. The rice and green beans served alongside were unseasoned and bland. After noticing other guests with coffee, I had to search for some myself. The decaf available had a strange flavor, and no more coffee was available afterwards. The only highlight was the dessert, a deep-fried cheesecake wrapped in a flour tortilla and served with ice cream. It would have been better with some fruit like strawberries or blueberries. The entertainment was enjoyable, but sadly, the food lacked in quality.
I had another disappointing experience at this restaurant. The salad and main course were served at the same time, and the steak was too salty. The explanation was that there were only two waitresses working and the cook was also preparing meals (the chef was off on weekends). This is the second time I have been disappointed this summer, as last time one beef medallion was undercooked, the other overcooked, and they forgot one soup. The owners of the restaurant will need to make a decision on whether they want to offer mediocre or fine dining.
I went there for supper on New Year's Eve for their set menu, cost $35. I expected to be served at the table, but it was buffet, and a poor one at that. Standard salad fixings of lettuce, croutons and dressings. Dry rolls, frozen vegetables, baby potatoes, prime rib that wasn't bad, and chicken Marsala that wasn't chicken Marsala. I should have cooked my own meal. Atmosphere was lacking. For the numbers they had booked for supper, they should have sat us all in a smaller section of the club. We were in the banquet room and there were so few people it was just awkward. There also was little to no table service for drinks...just a poor experience.
We arrived at this restaurant late in the day to meet up with friends for a nice dinner. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is at the Minnewasta Golf Country Club in Morden. The golf course is very well kept and beautifully green – pro quality. Some in our group had played it in the past. The food was very good with selections of burgers and lower priced fare (from lunch menu) along with more sophisticated choices. Both the lunch and dinner menus were presented even late in the afternoon. Two of the featured dinner menu items were not available. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger. It had a generous meat portion and fresh lettuce, tomato and some pickle. Others in the group had salad offerings and my daughter had the spaghetti from the kid’s menu. All were pleased with the meal and the surroundings. We stayed right to closing time. The staff were very pleasant with timely checks on our meals and enthusiastic smiles throughout. A great place to dine just a bit off the beaten path.
