Bidrage med feedbackExcellent smoked meat sandwich on rye. Service was fast and friendly and fun. First time having “smoked meat” but won’t be the last. I would highly recommend Lester’s.
The funny owner is always there with is fake mustard prop and this is amusing. But we go there for the smoked meat. This is one of the 7 smoked meat house in Montréal, and each one has their different rug and time of smoked. It's on Bernard Street in Outremont, the pation is always open, and you need to make a special detour in the restroom???
Excellent is the word I would use. The smoke meat was great. It looks a located in a neighborhood. The owner and the staff made us feel like locals. The food is great, but the experience and the way the treated us was what made me love it. Don’t miss it
Did some research about Montreals best deli's/places for smoked meats and Lester's came up many times. It was suggested Lester's is the place Montrealers go for smoked meat, authenticness and not a tourist trap. The research was right, Lester's is amazing. We went during lunch while visiting Mile end for a self guided food crawl. The place was packed but we were able to get a table right in front of the deli counter in the middle of the action. I think the owner was walking around the floor chatting it up with the regulars and came by to squirt us with the gag mustard bottle they sell. We felt very welcomed. We decided to order a smoked meat sandwich and a poutine to split because we were hitting up a number of restaurants in the area. I got a beer to go with the meal. It came out in a cool chilled mug. Beer was good, never heard of Boreale but I would recommend it and would try it again. The smoked meat was tender, flavourful and the bread and mustard all worked harmonious together. The poutine turned out to be the best one we had while in town. Great gravy and sqeaky cheese curds. I would definitely recommend Lester's Deli, great spot to split a meal if your on a food crawl through the neighborhood but also worth visiting straight up for a full on lunch.
My son and I happened across this deli walking back to the metro after a visit to a highly recommended bookstore. We are not from the area, so we had not heard of the apparently well known Lesters! The deli is like taking a trip back in time... we each got fries, my teenage son got a burger, I got a grilled cheese. All were inexpensive and delicious! The service was efficient and friendly (even for two Americans who stumbled over their French but tried hard! . Looking at reviews now, I wished we'd tried the smoked meats!
