Bidrage med feedbackI was overwhelmed with great sadness when I discovered that Haru Hana has permanently closed my favorite chatsudon place. I was looking for a delicious Katsudon now. Enter Japote! Hidden in the underground food court of a Scotiabank building on Floor C in the basement of the Centre Mont Royal. It was Cash Only there is a cash machine at the top of the bank. My Katsudon was Delicious will be back for more. As it is located in a food center, you will get to go and cross the road and relax in the beauty of McGill campus on the mountain.
Food is delicious and cheap. Real Japanese people work there. Nice people. There are always many tables open, so even Loner as I can comfortably go there without suffering from social anxiety. But maybe not to consume the healthiest things. Note: You can only pay with cash and the place is somehow hard to find
Another HIDDEN GEM!!! these portions were the small size (5$+tax), sizes go S M L location was hard to find, thats the only down side the food was just INCREDIBLE U NEEED TO TRY.
Before the pandemic, I used to come here with my coworkers all the time. We walked for 15 minutes, sometimes through the snow, and into the basement of this office building, just for the food here. The price was astounding, the meal was generous, filling without feeling bloated, and delicious. The owners are very sweet and hilarious, and I look back at those times with joy. Thank you Japote for the good memories, I'm glad to see that you're still in business. I look forward to my next visit!
Old Post from 2022: Prices are still very fair for the portions in this economy. Rice cooked perfectly. The curry was just the right amount of sweet and tang. The katsu was super crispy and tender. Fast and friendly service. The perfect meal in between classes that will fill you up just enough, but not make you feel a bit uncomfortable walking up the hill right after. You just gained yourself a regular.
